In a previous post, I said I'd write a review when I returned, so here it is.
We stayed at Star Island Resort (thanks MIL) from 6/26 - 7/2. We were in a 2-bedroom lockout. The rooms were huge and it was very clean. The only thing that seemed to be missing was a trash can in the kitchen (??). Easily resolved.
There was a full kitchen, living/dining room, master suite and balcony on the B side and a living room, 2 full size beds and a kitchenette on the A side.
We didn't spend much time in the room, but the resort was nice. We did use the pool, it was nice with fountian/waterfall in the center and a hot tub off to the side. The water was a little warmer (okay, a lot) than we like. Our balcony overlooked 2 sets of tennis courts, which always seemed to be in use. There was also a nice playground/sand area for little ones.
The parking situation was horrendous. It seemed like everyone that was staying in our building (23) and the surrounding buildings returned every day by 5 pm. I say this because no matter what time we returned (one day it was 6pm) there was never an available parking space. DH had to drop us off every night (usually because DD4 was asleep in the car) and then go park elsewhere.
There is a TGIF on the premisis, which delivers. We ordered one night and the food arrived hot within 15 minutes of ordering. They automatically charge it to your room, though. We quickly went down and paid cash. On a side note, when I tried to tip the delivery guy, he told me the tip was included and he refused it...twice.
Star Island is on 192 around marker 11. It took us about 20 minutes or so to get to WDW each day. If the opportunity arose, I would probably stay there again. Although, we did go check out DVC this trip, so that may be in the future somewhere
