We arrived home Mon. night after 12 wonderful days @ WDW. Weather was good... HOT and Humid, W/ daily rain @ 3 for about 15 min. but it felt great! It really cooled you off and you were dry in no time. Lines we not so bad for the first part of the trip stand by's said 20-30min but only took about 10-15 to get through. As the week went on it was harder to move around in the parks but wiat time still weren't that bad most said 30min w/ the some 40min ones. But parks felt really CROWDED it was hard to turn around w/out bumping into someone!
Okay on to the POP. Resort was great over all we had some of the nicest CM's we have ever meet there. We got our 1st towel animal here (got a new one everyday). But we did bump into a couple rather rude and STUPID CM's here. I did NOT get my room I paid extra for. I also asked for a handicapped room and did not get one. I was told it was because of our "late" check in... IT WAS 1:45 PM... They could change our room in 3 days. No thanks. I had to wait until we got home for them to refund our money because I didn't bring the cc I used to pay for the room w/ us and they wouldn't but it on another one. I asked for the closest room they had and got the farthest possible room in the 50's section. Oh well we put on our Happy faces after all we were in WDW and that's all that mattered to us... The next couple of days went along great. Until I went to the front desk to p/u our HDD tickets. The CM I got was dumber than a box of rocks first he told me that only king room our handicapped and you can't have 4 people in one so I'll have to pay for another room. Then he actually charged it to my cc. When I told him I didn't want to change rooms he said "OH" w/ a stupid look on his face. I told him we had already been here for 4 days I wasn't changing rooms now. I don't know what he was thinking but at that point he began to check us out mind you we had 8 more days left!!! As he tried to credit the extra room back he charged it again. It took me 1 1/2 hours to get everything straightened out. And to top it off our cc company put a hold on the card because of all the unusal activity for 48 hours until they figured it out. So we couldn't charge anything to our room or our card and we had limited cash. We got not even a glimpse of an "I'm Sorry".
The next day I had to add days to our tickets I waited in line for 25 min. and was told they don't do that here I'd have to go to the parks and do it. I was also told they don't have wheelchair to get around the resort. I was traveling w/ my 80yo DGM and it was hard for her to get back to the room at night.
As I explained to my DH that we'd have to go to the park to get extra days added a nice couple said they do that at the front desk we just did it. So I hiked back to the desk waited another 20 min and it took 30 sec. to have the days added. I asked the other CM when he didn't do it and he said he didn't know how! Instead of just telling me to go to another CM he sent me away.
After that I went to our room and called AKL. They didn't have anything that night but did for the next 5 nights so we switched our ressies ovver there for the remainder of the trip and had a great time. We have stayed at a value once before and didn't really mind it but we will NOT be staying at one again unless it's the difference between going to WDW and not going. AKL was just so much more relaxed and not as crowded as POP. We have always loved AKL and still do!
Happy to answer any & all ???'s
I will be posting our rest. reviews on that forum. Thanks

Those room/billing issues were terrible! I hope you get an apology and more. And I hope management at the POP takes the appropriate action. If it were me, some people would be looking for new jobs. You have a great attitude, being able to still recognize all the CMs that provided wonderful service. Happy to hear you got towel animals and a chance to stay at the wonderful AKL!!

Thanks I did get most everything fixed. Except for my refund on the prefered room I have yet to be refunded for. I have yet to get any kind of apology from anyone. I was basically told our room was given away because of our "late" check in...keep in mind it was 1:45 PM!!! Anyway the night we headed to our favorite resort AKL for dinner I found the most wonderful CM who switched us over to a wonderful AKL Sav. room for only $400 more. It was wonderful to end our stay in our fav. resort. DH usually won't change resorts but decided to because of all the problems and becuase he loves it @AKL!

WOW - Sorry about all the problems. I hope you get your refund soon!!! We are headed to AKL for our upcoming trip, and we are so looking forward to it!!! We can hardly wait!! Glad you had a good time there, that's what I like hearing!!! :earsboy:

Sorry to hear about your woes at POP. We have a stay in Jan reserved for 6 nights in 2 rooms than transfer to AKL for 5 more nights. i read your post because of it's title! i think after reading a lot that I'm just about ready to only stay at AKL. (Not only because of a lot of trip reports like yours, but because of all of the wonderful ones about AKL!) However DS 9 is so very excited about staying at POP. I've tried to hint about staying somewhere else and he is adamant about POP. Little does he, or my other son or husband know that the last 5 nights are booked for AKL. Kids think we're going home after 6 nights. I just haven't told DH that we are switching resorts.

Does anyone know the # of handicap accessible rooms at Pop Century? It seems odd that all the rooms were taken by 1:45PM. I thought the values had a higher % of accessible rooms. I know I saw a chart of it somewhere...

Although, since they didn't have any wheelchairs left for you to use, it could be true that all the rooms were taken, as the wheelchairs were taken.

I believe I read something about there being 200 hand. rooms w/ double beds and 186 w/ king size beds. I just believe I got a real stupid CM seeing he told me that they didn't have hand. rooms w/ 2 beds. They only came w/ king beds. I know this is false. And as far as the wheelchairs go he didn't say there wasn't any left he said they "don't do that" I would need to get one from a park. I found this hard to believe seeing a couple days later we saw a women in a wheelchair that said POP on it. Oh well. We did get one at AKL though.
We just figured it was all meant to be. Seeing DD really wanted to stay @ POP and we did then we got to switch and end our vacation @ our favorite resort AKL. If we hadn't of had these problems @ POP we never would have switched to AKL!
