It seemed it was a basic freshen up. It was painted and cleaned up and the lounge(not seeing it before) was nice. All the furniture seemed to be the same, in fact they took out the concierge lounge furniture from the rooms in Tahiti a fews days before to put it back in Hawaii. We didn't use the lounge amenities as it was my brother staying in Concierge. However we did see both his rooms and the one in Tahiti seemed bigger. The bathroom layout was much better. There were some glitches in his Hawaii room that needed to be fixed, toilet was leaking and an issue with the AC. It is on a motion sensor and then at night would shut down. They had a hard time cooling the room at night and we are not big AC people so they were not trying to keep it too cold just bearable, they eventually had to open the patio door. It was so stuffy. I am sure they will work all those issues out. We were in the Tokelau right between both The Tahiti and the Hawaii, when we arrived we never thougth they would open on time as they were still painted and fixing the stairs and all the grass at the back by the beach was a mud pit. The construction barriers were still in place. In 3 short days it was all complete. Overnight they had removed the barriers and re-landscaped the entire area and put down sod. We were at the pool and watched as the contractors and DIS people were doing an inspection of the outside. People were in the building I think on the Thursday! They had to move everyone over from tahiti as they were shutting down the lounge and that transition wasn't well communicated to all the guests. Originally they were told they would not move. They arrived back in their room one in the aftenoon to find the welcome gifts for the next family in their Tahiti room. My brother was forgotten and had to ask about moving over,(they apparently missed a few groups). They called to the desk and were told to quickly pack and they would move over their items. They ended up with the room the furthest from the lounge in Hawaii, 3rd floor at the very end closest to Tokelau. They liked their room better in Tahiti and didn't feel it was that far away from the GCH. I am sure it will be much better now that it is back in Hawaii, the lounge is not cut up into little rooms like in Tahiti and hopefully it will be easier for the CMs. They did have problems when they checked in. All of the PS's they had requested and confirmed by fax, email and phone were mysteriously not there. They had filled out the planning itinerary twice and nothing was on record, even after they had confirmed it. I hope now that things are back to normal in Hawaii things like that won't happen. They enjoyed concierge but didn't use the lounge much in the evening as they were always out, with us! They did say it would be well worth the extra cost if you planed to be there for the food at night as it was enough for a meal. They enjoyed the coffee and bfast items and the bottled water they would get before heading to the park.
