Back from stay at Polynesian - 9 nights (Aug 1 - 9) - lagoon view concierge. Poly was great... nothing but good to report. We were on 1st floor w/ a great view of the castle and we could see the Grand Floridian & Contemporary (could see monorail go into both!). We visited in celebration of my wife's birthday. Concierge and lounge staff were very friendly & helpful. We didn't make many difficult requests but everyone went the extra mile to make it a wonderful stay. Lounge staff got us coffee if we got there a bit late.... concierge walked down the hallway to open my door as I walked back to my room w/ full tray to exhausted / dehydrated family (wife & two college age daughters) and changed seating and gave help when needed. Room was, well, perfect... no other way to put it... the view just blew me away!
Food in the lounge was very good... and lots of it... loved the pineapple coconut bread for breakfast... could eat some now
Missed out on the sushi... Chef Dick on leave... but the fried rice was good. Got off to a great start... check in took all of 5 minutes from curb to room (Matt knows how to get a big tip!). Walking into Hawaii, Marilyn and Luis were walking toward us to greet us and give us big Aloha's and leis... it was great... I'm bad with names... so I forgot a lot after the first few... I remember (well, not exactly remember - got a few signatures on the way out) Eric, DT, Becky but there were many more that made it great. Cleaning staff did fine job and were very friendly. Lots of aloha's from everyone... we loved it.
We did all the parks and ate at Liberty Tree Tavern, Tony's, Coral Reef, Akershus, 50's Prime Time, Hollywood & Vine, Kona, 'Ohana, 1900 Park Faire, Hoop Dee Doo... any questions... I'll see if I can help... another highlight of the trip.... both my daughters made the hot seat! Mom & dad just a bit to slow... oh, and many, many birthday cakes (from cupcake size to 8-9 inch) at most of the restaurants and one on wife's birthday in the room... it was wonderful....
