Well, after months of planning, we have finally returned from our 9/3 to 9/9 stay at the Contemporary Resort. We planned this trip originally as a magical gathering with aunts, uncles, papa and a few others but here is who the cast turned out to be...

ME (26) Disney freak (DH says I am a neurotic planning freak. I say I am just prepared. He will appreciate this later :) )

DH (26) Likes the Mouse ok. Been there, done that kind of guy. Goes with the flow. Still wondering how I convinced him to take me to WDW for our Disneymoon

DS Charlie (5) Watched the planning DVD daily and couldn't wait to go.

DD Alyssa (4) Also watched DVD and thinks everything is "on the hook." Yes, we have to keep telling her it is "off the hook!

DCuz Stasia (19) We needed someone to help keep an eye on the kiddos for rides like Rockin Roller coaster and Expedition Everest!

Anyhow, quick history. My momma passed in March and wanted to take her grandbabies on a trip to the world. When she knew she wouldn't have the chance, she asked me to do it. I promised and last week, we were on our way...

We woke up at 3:30 to get to the airport by 5:30 (our plane left at 7:30). I thought it would be hard to get the kiddies up, but they were "too excited to sleep" (ME TOO) Everything went very smooth. We had a two hour flight with an hour an a half layover in HOU and then another two hour flight into Orlando. I am thinking the whole time, please don't let me run into one of these people I read about on the DIS. You kow who I am talking about, the idiots on the planes who think that kids belong down in the baggage compartment... But we had no problems and my kids were either in a trance or that benedryl I gave them kicked in. ( I am just kidding!!!) Really, they were great. Thank God for portable DVD players and crayons.

SIDE NOTE: I really think that if they will not allow you to bring on liquids, they should at least offer a drink service to young children when they board the plane. The stewardess walked past us several times and I know she heard my DD tell me she was thirsty, yet she kept walking. More about this one on the flight home!!!

Anyway, we land in MCO and find our way (not so magically) to the Disney welcome center and get on a Magical Express bus. We are soooo close now. Little do we know that while we were only one of about four families on the bus, we were going to three different resorts and ours was the last. So after sitting on the bus for about 15-20 mins, we finally are on our way. About an hour later I am standing (exhaustedly) at the check in desk at the Contemporary. Let me say that while I have always wanted to stay here, I couldn't see shelling out the extra $1000 it would have cost to stay in the tower rather than a garden wing (oh how I wish). I am chatting with the CM and telling him how tired we are and the long travel day we had when he says the WORST two words you could ever here after be up SO long and traveling:

"UH OH"

"WHAT?"

He tells me that our room is not clean even though it is now about 6:30 at night, almost 7:00. "Let me go in the back and see what I can do" he says. At this point, I just want a room. We had 8:00 dinner ressies at the Concorse Steakhouse and we wanted to freshen up as it was my DH and my 7th anniversary that day. The CM comes back and says he got our room moved to the part of the garden wing closest to the tower and it is on the ground floor with a patio facing the pool. SCORE. He also said the room we were supposed to have was pretty far away. PIXIE DUST! Not in the tower, but hey, what more could I ask for?

We get to the room and WOW! Pretty nice. I was impressed. It was a nice size. The daybed turned into a nice bed for DCuz and I had been worried about that. I was happy to get a refurbished room, but I did notice alot of cracks in the bathroom and the sliding doors on the "closets" stuck quite a bit. Other than that, we were very pleased with our room.

About five minutes after we walked in, Gardengrocer called and we had our order delivered. If you need anything, please think of them, we were sooooo pleased. Please visit their website. We had NO problems and the delivery was right when we asked for it!!!!

After we freshened we took the escalators to the fourth floor to the steakhouse and checked in. We were seated shortly after. Dinner was WONDERFUL!!!! I will go into more detail in a dining review. Let me just say it was the best meal of our entire trip. I may be biased as we were tired and extremely hungry, but we are still talking about the food. I was not expecting much, but it far surpassed that!

That was it for Day one. Sleep came quick and easy. Stay tuned for Day two. Epcot,Rain, And Utter Surprise

Enjoying your T.R!! Thanks for taking the time to write one up! :sunny:

We woke up bright and early (ok, maybe not so bright) and this is where I realized my first mistake. All the planning. All of the hours on the DIS. HOW COULD I LEAVE MY LGMH ON THE COMPUTER DESK????? I was up all night the night before we left cutting them out and putting my name on them and attaching cute little curly ribbon. How would I ever meet another DISer? Oh well, I am in the world, I need to move on and be happy.

We get the kids up and ready (a nice breakfast of oatmeal and poptarts) and they really have no idea what to expect. "But I thought we were already at Disney World?"

(Did they not just spend four months watching the planning DVD daily???)

We arrive via monorail at Epcot about 20 mins before opening. We are the second people at the turnstile. My DH says "just tell me where to push the stroller, I am following you!" I tell him we are going straight for Soarin even though we have done the ride several times at DisneyLand. We get there and have to wait for the rope drop. The nice part is we are right in front and there is a nice CM there who asks the kids if this is their first visit. DS says yes and she hands us FP for Test Track. Yeah! Pixie Dust! DD freaks out when the characters come out which would be the start of something for the rest of the week! We then take off for Soarin with the rest of the crowd and waited about 15 mins to ride. As we got closer, I told DH I was going to ask to be in the middle section, front row. I did and guess what? We were! More Pixie Dust!

After this we went right to get FP for Mission:SPACE and then we used the free FP for Test Track. The MS FP were available right away so we went right on that and who do we run into after? Space Mickey!!! DD was fine as long as Daddy held her for the picture. It has now only been an hour and we have done Soarin, TT and MS. HMMMMMMM where are the people at????

We head back over to the living seas and see Crush and the "fishies" We also do Spaceship Earth and Imagination with Figment. We had lunch at the Electric umbrella. Not bad, especially since it was free! We went to see Honey I shrunk the Audience and the kids were hot and since we had done all but the World showcase, we decided to head back to the hotel for a rest and come back since we had ADR's for coral Reef. Kids both slept for about and hour or so after watching TV for awhile and DH hit the arcade. We got ready and caught the monorail back to Epcot again.

When we got off the monorail, it was raining so I pulled out the wonderful rain equipment I bought that everyone laughed at me for! ( Panchos, stroller cover, umbrellas) and we headed the Coral Reef to see if we could get seated a little earlier than our 6:20 time. Good thing I checked. Our ADR's were for 6:00 and it was 5:45. They sat us right away. We were right on the first tier but not at the tables right next to the tanks. I was glad for that as I actually saw people go up and interupt diners to take pictures by the tank. How rude! Dinner was ok. Loud. But the kids loved the fish. The food left a lot to be desired. We had eaten here on our Honeymoon and I remember it being A LOT better.

After dinner, the rain had let up a little so we donned our panchos and headed to world showcase. we get to Norway and got in the line for Maelstrom and a CM comes and says it is down for now and to try later. Oh well. We walked the world for awhile until we got to the area just after Germany and before Italy. (I think)Anyway we found a GREAT place for Illuminations, but we still had 1/2 hour to go. DS found a friend in a family that camped out next to us and proceeded to tell them his lifestory in about 10 min. (He is only 5). We loved Illuminations, but then we had to find our way out of Epcot. In the dark. In a crowd. What fun. We did eventually get back to the Contemporary.

All in all, it was an excellent day. I don't know where the crowds were. The only wait we had was the 15 mins we waited for Soarin first thing. We walked on every other ride. Even when we used the FP for TT and MS, the standby lines were only 10-15 mins. We left Epcot at 2:00 that afternoon and felt we saw a good amount of the park, especially with little ones. They got a good rest, and were able to do the night time thing without being too cranky! The only complaint? The humidity! We are from AZ. It really is a DRY heat here. We also don't spend the entire day outside. You can't when it is 110 degrees out. So we are just not used to walking for 10 minutes and feeling the need to change clothes already! But, it really wasn't that bad and we had a great day.

Next up: Day 3 Animal Kingdom, the Pool and THE BIRD
