We woke up bright and early (ok, maybe not so bright) and this is where I realized my first mistake. All the planning. All of the hours on the DIS. HOW COULD I LEAVE MY LGMH ON THE COMPUTER DESK????? I was up all night the night before we left cutting them out and putting my name on them and attaching cute little curly ribbon. How would I ever meet another DISer? Oh well, I am in the world, I need to move on and be happy.
We get the kids up and ready (a nice breakfast of oatmeal and poptarts) and they really have no idea what to expect. "But I thought we were already at Disney World?"
(Did they not just spend four months watching the planning DVD daily???)
We arrive via monorail at Epcot about 20 mins before opening. We are the second people at the turnstile. My DH says "just tell me where to push the stroller, I am following you!" I tell him we are going straight for Soarin even though we have done the ride several times at
DisneyLand. We get there and have to wait for the rope drop. The nice part is we are right in front and there is a nice CM there who asks the kids if this is their first visit. DS says yes and she hands us FP for Test Track. Yeah! Pixie Dust! DD freaks out when the characters come out which would be the start of something for the rest of the week! We then take off for Soarin with the rest of the crowd and waited about 15 mins to ride. As we got closer, I told DH I was going to ask to be in the middle section, front row. I did and guess what? We were! More Pixie Dust!
After this we went right to get FP for Mission:SPACE and then we used the free FP for Test Track. The MS FP were available right away so we went right on that and who do we run into after? Space Mickey!!! DD was fine as long as Daddy held her for the picture. It has now only been an hour and we have done Soarin, TT and MS. HMMMMMMM where are the people at????
We head back over to the living seas and see Crush and the "fishies" We also do Spaceship Earth and Imagination with Figment. We had lunch at the Electric umbrella. Not bad, especially since it was free! We went to see Honey I shrunk the Audience and the kids were hot and since we had done all but the World showcase, we decided to head back to the hotel for a rest and come back since we had ADR's for coral Reef. Kids both slept for about and hour or so after watching TV for awhile and DH hit the arcade. We got ready and caught the monorail back to Epcot again.
When we got off the monorail, it was raining so I pulled out the wonderful rain equipment I bought that everyone laughed at me for! ( Panchos, stroller cover, umbrellas) and we headed the Coral Reef to see if we could get seated a little earlier than our 6:20 time. Good thing I checked. Our ADR's were for 6:00 and it was 5:45. They sat us right away. We were right on the first tier but not at the tables right next to the tanks. I was glad for that as I actually saw people go up and interupt diners to take pictures by the tank. How rude! Dinner was ok. Loud. But the kids loved the fish. The food left a lot to be desired. We had eaten here on our Honeymoon and I remember it being A LOT better.
After dinner, the rain had let up a little so we donned our panchos and headed to world showcase. we get to Norway and got in the line for Maelstrom and a CM comes and says it is down for now and to try later. Oh well. We walked the world for awhile until we got to the area just after Germany and before Italy. (I think)Anyway we found a GREAT place for Illuminations, but we still had 1/2 hour to go. DS found a friend in a family that camped out next to us and proceeded to tell them his lifestory in about 10 min. (He is only 5). We loved Illuminations, but then we had to find our way out of Epcot. In the dark. In a crowd. What fun. We did eventually get back to the Contemporary.
All in all, it was an excellent day. I don't know where the crowds were. The only wait we had was the 15 mins we waited for Soarin first thing. We walked on every other ride. Even when we used the FP for TT and MS, the standby lines were only 10-15 mins. We left Epcot at 2:00 that afternoon and felt we saw a good amount of the park, especially with little ones. They got a good rest, and were able to do the night time thing without being too cranky! The only complaint? The humidity! We are from AZ. It really is a DRY heat here. We also don't spend the entire day outside. You can't when it is 110 degrees out. So we are just not used to walking for 10 minutes and feeling the need to change clothes already! But, it really wasn't that bad and we had a great day.
