Back to the real world, the jetlag is receding, and the disneydust is starting to rub off a little. so i thought i would update you all on how our big gay disneymoon worked out!!

What an amazing time, with incredible memories along the way, from the day we got married through to the day we landed back in the UK our honeymoon was absobloodylutly fantastic!!!

Id like to say our wedding day went without a hitch, but what wedding does!!Lets just say I didnt think there was such a thing as motherofthegroomzilla but i met her on the day and at least now i understand what all the mother-in-law jokes are about (more of that later!!)

The people at the hotel where we got married were incredible and I honestly think everything went really well from the ceremony with our delightfully camp registrar Trevor Love (i swear thats his real name) through to the champagne reception on the beach through to the food - traditional seaside fair of fish and chips followed by icecream sundaes - was gorgeous, the weather here in the UK was unseasonably warm and the skies were dreamy blue!!

The next couple of days were a blur but we finally boarded our plane for our honeymoon from London - where we were greeted with a bottle of champagne from the cabin crew and lots of extra attention from the "boys" and "girls" on the plane. we flew out premium economy, and boy did they put the premium in premium economy.

We spent an amazing coupla days in NYC and even managed to walk from battery park all the way to central park (getting in training for WDW) which was an eduction in itself.

Once we had exhausted ourselves in New York we boarded the train for Orlando from Penn Station - and WOW what an experience. We had a "Roomette" which gave us 2 chairs in the day and bunks at night, which whilst not the most romantic suited us fine. We cracked open a bottle of bubbly and enjoyed a fabulous 20 hour trip made even more special by the delightful waiter we had in the dining car - he was in his late 50s and clicked that we were "family" straight away - and was enchanting throughout the trip. The food was excellent and the overall experience was incredible.

Now onto the real deal....DISNEY...

WOW words really cannot describe the magic we experienced for the main part of our disneymoon. From the Moment we were greeted with "Welcome home", and were checked in by such warm friendly people at Old Key West, through to chasing Tigger and Pooh round for Photos, through to our Last meal at Narcoossee's were all probably some of the highlights of my life so far. So much so that we have already started looking into WDW for our 1st year anniversary!!

some highlights of our trip included...

The Food Festival - what variety, what tastes, it was great to be able to eat my way round the world in less than a couple of hours!!

getting slurped by Tigger!!!

Spectromagic - DAMN you guys know how to do parades

the Jaccuzzi!!!

Old Key West - i heard several mixed reports about OKW but can honestly say we will defo be back as long as we can afford it. Everyone was great that we were on honeymoon and didnt ever treat us differently. there were also hardly any kids there, with lots of adult couples which made us feel much more part of the fun!!

There were other high points, and some low points - my grandmother passed away whilst we were there -and its thanks to the upbeat nature of the place that i was able to get through some of the rough patches. "Someone" even sent us a rainbow on the day after she passed which was one of her favourite things!!!

I cant thank you all so much for the tips I gained over the year that i have been on these boards, cause they really made for a supercallifragilistic trip. im just glad that we both enjoyed it so much that we want to go next year, meaning ive still got an excuse to lurk!!!

im still waiting for photos to come back but here are a couple from our wedding day!!!

I am sorry to hear about your grandmother.

Sorry about the pictures - im waiting on the real ones to come back - those just got sent to me on facebook and so i cant make them bigger!!

Well - mother in law - where can I start. this is a tricky one for me but to say this woman has no class is an understatement. The night before the wedding she announced at the family dinner "I'm Bored" and then spent the night passing gas from both ends!!! This amused my brother and embarrassed my mother but i let it slide as she has always been more "one of the lads" than a lady!

However the wedding day was a different story. We have what you would call a blended family - lots of step family and stuff!!! My husband's (still cant get used to that) brother and his wife split after we invited them both to the wedding and despite the fact that we still wanted them both to be there his brother decided he couldnt come. I want to stress that he has an OK relationship with his ex wife but didnt want to cause friction on our day.

Throughout the ceremony things went really well - i was beginning to think i was in a dream it went so well but then during the champagne reception my husbands mother had a major strop because her ex daughter in law was there and her son wasnt. She stormed off but we only noticed she was missing when it came to the photos,

Darren (did I say yet that he is my husband?/ hehe) went off to find her and came back in tears. He had tried to reason with her that it wasnt about his brother or his ex wife but that it was our day but she wouldnt have it. Darren asked me to go and talk to her - which was probably not the best idea bearing in mind that she had just made my husband cry on our wedding day!!

Lets just say that words were exchanged and im not proud of myself but i couldnt believe the nerve of the woman. She did us the courtesy of coming downstairs to the wedding breakfast and then left the following morning. So now I guess you can say I have a traditional relationship with my mother in law!!!

However I must stress that this was 15 minutes of nastiness in an otherwise perfect weddind and honeymoon!!!

Congratulations!!!

Thanks for sharing stories and pictures...(we want more). My daughter just got married so that makes me....gulp...a MIL!! ....But I'm the nice kind. ;)

WOW, she sounds like a peach.

I'm glad everything else went so smoothly. Looking forward to more pictures.

Oh gosh. Where to begin. Congratulations!!!! The photos are a nice glimpse of a lovely wedding. Can't wait to see more! :teeth:

I'm terribly sorry about your Grandmother.

Your MIL? Well, as I'm sure you heard them say in NYC, "fuggeddaboudit!" LOL.

I love the idea of the train trip from NYC to Orlando. Quite an adventure. Happy to hear that the waiter was so good.

Isn't OKW wonderful?!!! ::yes:: It's our home resort, so I'm a bit biased. :teeth: I sure hope you get to go back soon.

So then! Let's hear more please? You must keep us all entertained with stories of the wedding and honeymoon until you can get the photos posted! :teeth:

popcorn::

I'm in for the ride!

So glad the majority of this story is good, but sad to hear about your Grandmother...

Waiting anxiously for the next chapter!

There are some traditions that I am so glad about - for example, the groom should not see the bride the night before the wedding - great, we didnt have a bride so could spend the night and wake up together on our wedding day!! However we both felt that we should have a little time apart to make it special so that night before the night before the wedding i made the trip to my Mums house by train so that I could drive back with her to brighton. She lives down the coast from us a couple of hours so i had a very nice time in the 1st class carriage of the train with a half bottle of champagne to keep me company.

Now accross the road from the train station we have an Ikea which is where i had arranged to meet my mum (its a family tradition to meet at Ikea!!) But when I got there I couldnt find her. I got a text to meet her in the cafe area and made my way there....

Only to find my mother, and my aunty Annie at a table with a bottle of Fizz and Smoked Salmon salads - such a great surprise and a great start to the day!!! We spent a leisurely lunch catching up and then meandered around ikea trying to see if they had any cheap napkins (another long story!!)

here are my Mum (the "blonde") and my Aunty Annie (the "brunette")
mumandauntyannie.jpg

After lunch we headed back to Mums house and hung out with the dogs and had olives and dips and more fizz in the garden - which was the perfect end to the day!!

Next day we were both up early as we knew we had a lot to do. To put this in context I had decided to do my own flowers/table decorations (but want to stress that im NOT artistic or a florist) my solution, to tie into my Seaside theme, was to get small beach buckets and fill them full of sunflowers - cheap and very cheerful!! I had saved up vouchers for Tesco (kind of like walmart) so spent the morning driving round local stores buying up their entire stocks of sunflowers. We had hilarious fun trying to get the sunflowers, and were very lucky to have fantastic weather which meant we could have the car roof down - we must have looked so funny driving along to brighton with the whole back of the car filled with flowers!! I like to think the amount of sunflowers we got gave us the great weather we got on the day.

Anyhow i think the work was worth it cause this is what the table centres looked like...

We arrived in Brighton Mid morning, met up with Darren and my future MIL and made our way to the hotel. After Check in We all went our separate ways to the hairdressers and got ourselves ready for the evening and the family meal.......
