Back to the real world, the jetlag is receding, and the disneydust is starting to rub off a little. so i thought i would update you all on how our big gay disneymoon worked out!!
What an amazing time, with incredible memories along the way, from the day we got married through to the day we landed back in the UK our honeymoon was absobloodylutly fantastic!!!
Id like to say our wedding day went without a hitch, but what wedding does!!Lets just say I didnt think there was such a thing as motherofthegroomzilla but i met her on the day and at least now i understand what all the mother-in-law jokes are about (more of that later!!)
The people at the hotel where we got married were incredible and I honestly think everything went really well from the ceremony with our delightfully camp registrar Trevor Love (i swear thats his real name) through to the champagne reception on the beach through to the food - traditional seaside fair of fish and chips followed by icecream sundaes - was gorgeous, the weather here in the UK was unseasonably warm and the skies were dreamy blue!!
The next couple of days were a blur but we finally boarded our plane for our honeymoon from London - where we were greeted with a bottle of champagne from the cabin crew and lots of extra attention from the "boys" and "girls" on the plane. we flew out premium economy, and boy did they put the premium in premium economy.
We spent an amazing coupla days in NYC and even managed to walk from battery park all the way to central park (getting in training for WDW) which was an eduction in itself.
Once we had exhausted ourselves in New York we boarded the train for Orlando from Penn Station - and WOW what an experience. We had a "Roomette" which gave us 2 chairs in the day and bunks at night, which whilst not the most romantic suited us fine. We cracked open a bottle of bubbly and enjoyed a fabulous 20 hour trip made even more special by the delightful waiter we had in the dining car - he was in his late 50s and clicked that we were "family" straight away - and was enchanting throughout the trip. The food was excellent and the overall experience was incredible.
Now onto the real deal....DISNEY...
WOW words really cannot describe the magic we experienced for the main part of our disneymoon. From the Moment we were greeted with "Welcome home", and were checked in by such warm friendly people at Old Key West, through to chasing Tigger and Pooh round for Photos, through to our Last meal at Narcoossee's were all probably some of the highlights of my life so far. So much so that we have already started looking into WDW for our 1st year anniversary!!
some highlights of our trip included...
The Food Festival - what variety, what tastes, it was great to be able to eat my way round the world in less than a couple of hours!!
getting slurped by Tigger!!!
Spectromagic - DAMN you guys know how to do parades
the Jaccuzzi!!!
Old Key West - i heard several mixed reports about OKW but can honestly say we will defo be back as long as we can afford it. Everyone was great that we were on honeymoon and didnt ever treat us differently. there were also hardly any kids there, with lots of adult couples which made us feel much more part of the fun!!
There were other high points, and some low points - my grandmother passed away whilst we were there -and its thanks to the upbeat nature of the place that i was able to get through some of the rough patches. "Someone" even sent us a rainbow on the day after she passed which was one of her favourite things!!!
I cant thank you all so much for the tips I gained over the year that i have been on these boards, cause they really made for a supercallifragilistic trip. im just glad that we both enjoyed it so much that we want to go next year, meaning ive still got an excuse to lurk!!!
im still waiting for photos to come back but here are a couple from our wedding day!!!
Exchanging Rings!!!
Tying the Knot!!!
The Mothers!!!
Champers on the beach!!!
