Hi guys, seen a lot of negative comments and experiences on the board from the last weekend, so just thought I'd chime in with our thoughts. Will be brief, as I'm planning to write my first trippie this weekend when I have a bit more time. Only just managed to get time to write this since being back!
We stayed at the Cheyenne from Thursday 11th to Sunday 14th just gone, and we loved it!
Had stayed at the Santa Fe for our first trip previous, and the theming was much better here. Felt more 'proper disney' if you know what I mean!
It felt a lot more like a community in the evenings etc too.
The parks were beautiful! The xmas theming was ace. Standing in the centre of main street with the 'snow' falling down brought a lump to my throat.
The parks were pretty quiet on Thursday and Friday which was brilliant to get loads of stuff done before the weekend
.
Saturday was supposed to be our day in Paris to do the Eiffel Tower (already seen it and everything else of note on the previous trip, but not gone up it), however when we woke up it was COOOOOLLLDDDD!!!!
We decided that it would not be enjoyable, so decided on another day in the parks! Was Ridiculously busy, but did our usual park hopping strategy of hitting the studios in the early afternoon once people start filtering over to the other park, and was quieter there. I cannot stress how cold it was!! Wear LOTS of layers + good hat & gloves if you are going, and be prepared for how exhausting the cold is. You WILL need to get early nights if you want to keep enjoying the parks!
. Sunday we were absolutely knackered, and I am a pretty fit 27 year old man. No wonder there were kids crying all over the place due to exhaustion! You really need to pace yourselves in this weather.
It saddens me to see that people have not enjoyed their time at the parks due to the rude actions of others, and believe me I would go APE if anyone dared to push a member of my family! I believe that DLRP really need to follow the lead of WDW and have a CM ensist that the characters will not do photos or autographs until people form a line. Not to sound like the Daily Mail or anything, but it seems like only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured in one of these scuffles. People were going nuts, and didn't give a damn who got in their way!
. At the end of the day, I guess you just have to let it go, and not let the actions of a few idiots ruin things for the rest of us
Just be thankful in the knowledge that your kids will grow up with parents that actually give a damn about respecting others, and will have those values imprinted upon them
The only thing that we had a problem with was the cruddy exchange rate, which meant eating was pricey. To be honest though, we always ate a MONSTER breakfast of about 5 pain au chocolate (It's french for chocolate sausage roll, don't you know?
) and loadsa cereal etc, and then only ate one main meal in the afternoon at 2-3pm. Although these meals were average £11-£20 each (which is expensive) it was not the end of the world. The shop at the train station is your best friend in this regard. Get some crisps and french biccies in for the evening and get an early night (forget the calories, you're on ya hols!) Plenty of chance to burn it off trekking in the parks. I think next time we go we'll be taking loads more cereal bars etc from england with us to make the pennies stretch even further.
Anyway, will put up my first trippie at the weekend, but until then I just wanted to put a few positive thoughts out there. Much love folks!
