Back from HH

We had a great trip at Hilton Head. Our last visit was 2 years ago in July. The bus driver told us that they were 100% full but it really felt MUCH less crowded than when we visited in July. I think it depends on how many people are in each room and how many visitors there are. In July the southern states are still out of school so people have more "visistors". This trip it was almost all people from Northern / mid-atlantic states.

We were in builing 28 this time instead of by the marsh. At first we were disappointed because we really enjoyed our view last trip. It worked out ok because we were close to the pool and it was sooooooo HOT that we would not have sat out on the deck much. It was also easier to load/unload since it was closer to the parking.

The 2BR was in good shape. We did notice that the pool gate was not working at the beach house. It wasn't locking but there did not seem to be extra people hanging out. I also was wondering what happened to the cute boat playground that was at the beach? Our kids are now too old for it but I thought it was cute.

We can't decide if we prefer Aug or July. My husband is from CT and did not like how warm the pool and ocean were. He likes the water to be refreshing not bath water. Maybe we will try June next time.

Need to start planning for our next DVC trip - BCV in Feb!!!

TerriBelle, do you own at HH, or do you book at the 7 month mark? We'd like to go to HH next summer, but since we don't own there, I'm not sure how likely we are to get a reservation.

ErinC - No we own at BW. We have been able to get a reservation both times we tried. We never have any trouble getting a 2BR. We have had to waitlist for a studio or 1BR. My parents and sister go with us so we need 2 units. I would try as close to 7 months as possible.

It really is a nice vacation!

Same here -- BWV owners who just spent a week at HHI. We had a 2BR also (that is the most plentiful unit size there, hence the reason these are morereadily available). I called at the 7 mos window day-by-day and there was no problem, EXCEPT I lapsed by a day or 2 at most towards the end of our reservations and nearly messed up the whole trip when, of all things, THursday night wasn't available! Imagine -- I got Sun-Wed, and Fridday no problem, but Thurs. wasn't available. Somehow, MS made it happen, though, without even having to waitlist.

ANyway -- if you want HHI, I suggest calling day-by-day at your earliest window, just to be sure!
