We just returned from a week at the GF with our 4 children(2 are under 3) We stayed in garden view and were blown away...We had a perfect view of the Wilderness Lodge and the Contemporary hotels as well as Space Mountain....and if you really leaned over the railing the castle :rotfl2: The lagoon was beautiful and we saw the electric light parade every night from our balcony(Conch Key room 7410) It was fantastic!! We had plenty of room. The resort was just perfect! I only wish we had more time to play in the pools- we never even hit the one with the slide. Any questions ask away

I'm glad to hear you had a good time. I never worry about a view at the GF because they are really lovely.

sounds like you had a good time. If my kids were so young and 4 of them I would want to stay on the monorail too. GF is a dream for us. Some day.

Was the Grand Floridian worth all the extra money? I have decided to try it next summer, but it is a big spurlge for us since we are both teachers. We will be going with myself, DH, my sis, DD(will be 6) and DD(will be 2). I loved the Poly, but generally deluxes are too much for us. This is a special splurge- will I be disappointed or thrilled???!!!

Thanks,

Ps. sounds like you had a great time

Did you make any room requests? I have requested Conch Key for the GV room I have booked in late August, and it sounds like you had a great room. Was it a view of the marina directly out your window?

sounds great! we stayed at GF in jan. 2004. LOVED IT, but we were given an upgrade to lagoon view, which also turned out to be castle view. so when we go back this jan. i have been worried that i'll be disappointed in the view. DH won't let me book lagoon view, and i really don't blame him. maybe i should request conch key and hope to get a marina view room??

glad you loved it so much!

We looked right out over the "Bay"-not the pier side the other side. We were right near Narcosses. We did not do any room requests at all so I don't know if that makes a difference or not- our hotel seemed to be booked. We checked in late- around 8PM. And were just polite and ended up with a beauty. I do think it is the luck of the draw- right place right time kind of thing. We did use Dreams Unlimited so I don't know if she had anything to do with the room but I am sure going to thank her as well.
And as for the "is it worth it" question. We have stayed at the Beach Club, Yacht, WL, Coronado. These rooms are the nicest and largest we have stayed in- never felt cramped(which we have felt in the BC. They have nightly turn down service which is a treat- new towels!! The beds are queen size. The "disney themeing" is subtle- Alice in wonderland quilts- but you really had to look to notice it- a mickey lamp. We loved it and would definatly stay there again. It was great being a 5 minute ride to the MK on the Monorail. We could just hop on over and with 4 kids we never do that anyplace- so easy for us. Have fun I think you will enjoy it. Oh and the rooms are quiet!- no screaming(except for Bridezilla but I'll save that story for the trip reports board)

Got you - thanks for posting back! That gives me a good idea, and leads me to believe I should just leave it as Conch Key and keep my fingers crossed! Maybe Tinkerbell will help me out since it's mine and my mom's birthdays!

We stayed in Conch Key in May Garden View not the marina. We could sit on the balcony though and look out at the bay! We loved it. We also noticed that it was very quiet in our building. We loved that! It is nice to know that this seems to be the norm there. Another thing we enjoyed was that the kids were booked for pirate cruise and we just stepped out of our building to put them on the boat. We also went on the Wishes fireworks cruise one night and LOVED being able to step out of the hotel to the marina, see the fireworks and then be dropped back off at the marina and stepping into our hotel. While I love watching Wishes in the MK, it sure beat fighting the crowds! Especially when you have an early flight the next day!
