It was FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!
First, thank you Tikiman Steve for a website filled with great info which really helped my trip planning be such a success!!!!
Okay, this was a resort only trip. No parks at all. Left Friday, May 12th and returned yesterday, May 15th. Made my reservations for the Florida rate way back in March. At the time I made my deposit I made a request: Fiji 3rd Floor. Three days before check in, I faxed my room request. Day before check in I called to pay the bill in full and asked if they noted my room request, which they had. At check in, after everyone received a lei, I made no mention of my room request, but was TOLD they had reserved a room for us on the Third Floor of the Fiji building, as we requested!
The room was awesome!!! It smelled brand new and OVERLOOKED THE MARINA! We could see the pool, Bay Lake, the Contemporary, and Space Mountain! WOW!
Let's hope they keep this "basic room" at the "basic price." Incredible!! The room was spacious and the day bed was a great sleeping bed. The bathroom was a nice size and I liked the toilet being hidden. I felt the lighting was way too dim for a bathroom, however.
The second day, we had breakfast at the Kona Cafe. Great food! We went to the pool and had a blast - but that water was freezing!!! Spent most of the day at the pool and on the beach. Loved having the Barefoot Bar right there and Captian Cook's not far for light snacks and drinks. We also rented the Surry bikes and got our workout! LOL
FYI - the pool is not heated. Life jackets are available for kids for free. There is no height or weight limit on the slide. The deepest part of the pool is 4 ft. 6in.
That night was our first time at OHana's. We enjoyed every minute!!! I felt we made a rookie mistake in not telling our wait staff to slow down on the food delivery. We wanted to savor everything, but felt rushed to the next course. I will speak up the next time. After, we enjoyed a trip to Grand Floridian and the Contemporary. We had drinks at California Grill during the fireworks. That is so magical and I highly recommend it to everyone.
Mother's Day breakfast at Kona was great. Every mom got a flower. The rest of the day was at the pool and beach again. Dinner was at Kona, too. Another great meal.
I truly did not want to even think about leaving the next day. A return to reality was too harsh!
But, had to pack up that evening and prepare for the inevitable.
The next morning bell services was prompt and helpful. After breakfast at Kona, valet services were just great in assisting us and getting us on our way.
I can tell you that I truly loved every minute of this very special Poly stay. My mother went with us and she has Stage IV breast cancer. The magic at the Poly helped us all to forget, just for a little while, the harsh realities of life.
I am a Poly lover for sure!!! Please let me know if you have any questions!!

A little off topic of the resort, but how were the crowds?
