Well, we're back from our five days at DL, and we had a terrific time with only a couple of gliches along the way.

We're weren't able to take the tour because they were booked up giving tours to other people, and when they could fit us in for a tour, we were going to be busy at the parks, so it was a scheduling issue. But we did see several DVC desks/booths/displays all over DTD and in the resort hotels. I asked how they give tours since obviously there's no DVC properties to tour over here, and we were told that they have models. What kind of models - like modulars that you walk through so someone could get an actual feel of the rooms, or like a plastic model of the different resorts that's sitting on a table for people to look over? Or maybe both? I wish I had asked while I was there.

We went into the GC to check out the awesome lobby, which we do everytime we're there because we love it, and while we were there we talked to a nice DVC saleswoman at a DVC sales desk. My DH asked her if they were giving away any free points that day. :rotfl: She chuckled and responded with a "No, unfortunatley not today! Check back with me later." :rotfl: She was very nice, and recently moved to Anaheim from Orlando to sell DVC to us westerners. She did say that DVC was selling very well over here and hopefully a new DVC resort would be announced soon.

We're still planning on buying a membership, but it won't be until spring when we make a purchase (after we sell our travel trailer). At least DH is on the bandwagon for DVC now! :cheer2: He actually seems excited about it, but he is FIRM about selling the travel trailer first. Okay, I can live with that! :teeth:

In the meantime I'll just keep educating myself about DVC by reading and asking questions here on the DIS Boards. :sunny:

Here's a link to some photos of our trip, and of previous trips to DL. Disneyland trips

As of September the models were essentially a "dolls" house where you could view a miniature version of SSR and villas. They also had high tech flat panel displays in viewing rooms for the video and I expect the guides to use with their laptops.

Glad you enjoyed visiting the GC. That is where we stay when at DL. What a great resort!

Good luck with the sale of the travel trailer and an eventual membership in DVC :goodvibes

Having owned both, I can tell you that DVC is even better than a travel trailer!

To get an idea of the rooms, go here: http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/dvc.htm

Scroll down on the left margin to the various resorts and then click on "Photos - Text Links." That way, you can look at whatever you want without having to watch the full slide show.

When you get ready to buy, research carefully, ask a lot of questions, and be sure you thoroughly understand the essential elements of how DVC works.

Good luck!
