You know I forgot something on my last trip to Disney and well just family trip. Sometimes you have to realize bad stuff will happen and it's no ones fault. I assign one kid per parent/cousin/ect. That way it's one on one if people get split up it's okay cuz we all meet up and all have cell phones. You can try and force your kids on rides.. sometimes it works.. sometimes it doesn't.
If you had 6 days you had no need to rush but I can see why you felt disheartened. It's tuff when you feel you are dragging the family. Sort of like a skit I saw of Calvin and Hobbes. The dad takes the kids camping and it rains the whole time... I also bet you were imagining 6 days of fun looking for a well earned vacation.
I NEVER tell the kids we are going to
Disneyland until we are pulling up to the hotel/ park. I do prep them putting on Disney movies and after a couple months the wife and the kids are so DISNEY'd they are going to burst. So when we get there believe me they LOVE the rides. Also on the roller coasters I have one kid who will go on everything and another who will go on most things. This was when my kids were 6,7,3. Now they are 8,7,4, and <1I mean one of my kids even went on the tower of terror...
As for your wife saying the animatronic characters freak her out.. I can't help you there. Either way I feel SO bad for you. Believe me I need this vacation so bad and I'd be so bummed out if it didn't work out. In your position I would have hit the park first thing in the morning then hit the pool.
Kids and fingers. I'm not saying you do this I'm not attacking your parenting but even though it's a constant battle.. don't let the kids be in front of opening anything and watch their fingers on ropes, chains, doors, ect. Don't let them be in front of you make a parent sammich with kid fillin. Either that or pick them up. One year I had a similar thing happen with my little sister and I wrapped myself around my sis and yelled at people to stop. People did and the crowd was helpful. I've had stroller Nazis who try to run my kids over. The trick is keep your hands on them, navigate them, and never go too fast for your kids. I also go when the park opens early hit the rides I want to hit then just take it easy.
wow this is a book.
