Back from CSR

I just got back last night from 10 days at CSR! That place is beautiful and has the best staff I have ever dealt with at Disney. They gave me a free room upgrade without asking. But on another note, Do NOT stay here without a dining plan like I did. You will not be happy with the foodcourt at all. The prices are insane to say the least. And watch out, the flu bug is alive and well at Disney. We lost 2 park days because of it. It was still worth it. No lines, no wait times at all during the week.

First, sorry about the flu bug. That's no way to spend a vacation. Second, I'md elighted that you loved CSR and had great staff service. Yes, the food court is very expensive; since it is not owned/run by Disney and it by an outside vendor, I think they cater to the convention crowd knowing their expenses are paid. Thankfully, we've gone with free dining the last three years so we've not had to worry about it.

Again, thanks for posting and welcome back.

Thanks! We still had a great time. There was little or no wait on the rides and the weather was great. I noticed that the people seemed a little more outgoing this time of year. Maybe the small crowds make people a little happier. We had dinner with total strangers a couple of times and the bus drivers were very outgoing. I don't see that during the busy seasons.
We stayed in 9a too. We were given a water view upgrade free. I'm still not sure why, but I took it and smiled.

I always smile when I get an upgrade. We've paid waterview once in seven trips and have been upgraded five of the other six times (last year to a suite for our 25th wedding anniversary). Did you have a rehabbed room?
And are you going to post pictures?

Welcome back! Glad you enjoyed CSR.

I disagree about the PM though. I've gone every year for tha past 10 years and never purchased the DDP. Yes, the meals are more at the PM but they are different that you will get at other food courts. Larger meals, freshly cook. Not your typical burgers and chicken fingers. The portions are larger and the options are greater. I done have a problem with it. I'll be there in 10 days to check out the new menu so my opinion may change but past on what I've experience in the past, I love it. Steaks, wet burrito and all.

I thought 9B was being renovated into suites only....?
Buzz can you confirm?

I plan to request 9A or 8B..assumong 9B is suites or closed....

20 more days for us....:cool1:

Yes, 9b is complete and it is business club level. But when there are no conventions booking that building, it is open to all guests.

Thanks Buzz. It really is a great place. The food is yummy, but it cost me less to eat at Rainforest & Planet Hollywood. That's no lie. My first meal at Pepper including buying mugs came to 112.00 dollars (for three of us). That's a big chunk of change for a food court. The meals after that averaged around $45.00. But I love the resort and will stay again in June. We'll just eat someplace else. I'll be driving this time. They do have great bus service & it's close to Epcot & DHS. We walked to the Mcdonalds down the road a couple of times & to Blizzard Beach.

$45.00 is about what I avg for the 3 of us. That's what I would pay to go to Chili's or Ruby Tuesdays. What the heck did you get for $112? Minus 30 for the mugs, that's still 82 bucks.

I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay--I'll be there in May. Can't wait!

I too am concerned about food prices at the PM. They seem pretty steep.

May I ask what are the directions on how to get to the McDonalds from CSR and how long of a walk is it? I'm not the world's biggest McD's fan, but I know I can feed myself there for a couple of bucks, and it would be nice to save some money on food at WDW. Thanks!

I also thought the food was expensive (although as you'll note from my signature, it's not stopping me from going back again). But as Buzz said, the portions are quite large. My d and I were able to share an entree at dinner and a waffle at breakfast, which kept the costs down. Next time, I'm going solo, though, so I might do the DP. We'll see!

Ahh..excellent! Thank you!:)

Yay! We leave in 6 days for our first trip to Disney and to CSR! :rotfl:
And the weather is supposed to be beautiful!

Love this! Im glad you had a great time (everyone!)

27days until my first CSR experience!

Im looking forward to the PM -- my boss told me about it before I even booked our reservations for WDW. I guess its that good?

I have no idea about rooms though - we will take what they give us. You can put a request in when you check in?
