Well, our daughter got married Friday night at home and we left for a DVC long weekend the next morning. Are we nuts or what?
Wanted a night at VWL in a studio so booked an annual pass rate for one night for Saturday. Room was ready at 11:00. It was in good shape and cleaned nicely. Enjoyed the peacefulness of the lodge like always. Went to the Magic Kingdom at about 7:00 p.m. Saturday night and rode It's a Small World, Haunted Mansion, and Philharmagic with no waits (everybody was lining up for the parade I guess). Was totally surprised the Magic Kingdom was not that busy. Our daughter and new son-in-law tried to go Sunday and Monday and said it was a zoo. They gave up.
Checked into BCV on Sunday for 2 nights. Had to wait for the room until about 4:10, but it was in GREAT shape. Very clean. They had even cleaned the carpets (still a tiny bit damp when we checked in). Looked like they had worked hard on some spots/stains somebody had left behind. The room was in good shape. With all the negative reports on these boards about BCV, I have to say our lockoff studio (Room 449) looked good. We had a woods view/partial Epcot and view of the Beach Club resort. I really enjoyed BCV. This is one of our home resorts and my husband and I had only stayed here 1 night when it first opened. I think the drink/mug station and food-to-go area is nice. Very handy for the BCV guests. We saw a black snake go across the sidewalk into the bushes on the walk over one morning to fill up our drinks. That will STOP you in your tracks!
Ate at Artist Point for the first time while at the VWL. Wow, was it good. We had the buffalo steak. Definitely will eat there again. Delicious.
Side note: Our daughter and new son-in-law stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge for their honeymoon. They didn't care for the resort. They did get upgraded from a pool view to a Savannah view room. But, they said a lot of the staff was rude. Especially at the quick food restaurant. They said they were so snarly they felt like they weren't staying on Disney property. Our daughter said she only wants to go back to Disney if she can stay at a DVC affiliated resort. She said the staff and guests are the best at DVC. She said there must have been a lot of once in a lifetime visitors because it almost became funny how many people were cutting in lines and generally acting badly. Our daughter said, mom, we really missed the DVC "family" feel that we get at the vacation club hotels. A cast member happened to ask them how their trip was going while they were at MGM and they told him. Unbeknown to them, this cast member was with guest relations and he gave them a priority seating pass (whatever you call it) for Fantasmic. Our daughter said, wow, mom, that was nice that they cared.
