We just returned from a nine night stay at BCV, April 26-May 5. Wow, I never thought a trip to Disney could be too long but I think we wore ourselves out. We were in a studio for eight nights and then a one bedroom for the last night that we added on at the last minute. Like others, we have agreed we will take less trips and have at least a one bedroom when we go without kids. Or we could just add on. :rolleyes1

Ups:

Beach Club is gorgeous! We loved being next to Epcot since when it's just the two of us we spend a lot more time there. Loved the pool but we aren't really swimmers these days. Service was great as well.

Downs:

Things were starting to look a bit worn down. I know everything can't be brand spanking new all the time but some paint touchups and a good cleaning would have been all that was needed. The one-bedroom was in better shape than the studio. Both were comfortable though.
I guess what bugged us the most was the poor condition of the elevators and the villa lobby floors. The elevators were dirty and had garbage on the floor that was there the next day when we went back downstairs. :confused3
The lobby floor is in dire need of resurfacing.
Still love Disney and DVC but I hope things aren't headed south in the maintenance area.

Ups:

The Flower and Garden Festival was great, the flowers were beautiful. Actually, all of WDW was blooming with flowers. We did a photo tour and took tons of pics. DH and I have decided that this might just be the time for us to start going instead of October.

Ups/downs:

Hmmmm, chearleaders. We arrived smack in the middle of the largest chearleading/dance competition in the world. Epcot was overflowing with them. I decided if you can't beat them, join them. I watched a good deal of the competition, some of those kids are absolutely amazing. By Monday most of them were gone but some stayed for a couple more days to tour the parks.

Crowds-Sunday was pretty crowded but Mon-Wed were absolutely dead. My DH rode ToT three times in a row walking on and RnR twice with hardly any wait. We couldn't believe it. Then Thursday came and the crowds exploded, I don't remember ever seeing so many people during a "moderate" time of year. It stayed that way through Friday night and by Saturday settled back into what we usually see in October. It was very strange, lots of choir and orchestra groups as well.

Ups:

99% of the people we encounter at WDW are friendly, great people.

Downs:

The 1% of the population that do their best to spoil the other 99%'s experiences. I'm talking about the ones who take flash photography during dark rides and night parades, those who smoke in non-smoking areas, trying to hide their cigs as they blow smoke in your face, line jumpers and people who don't control their children.

Funny story- Two 20-something males, who were obviously not handicap in any way, had rented ECV's in Epcot. We saw them talking to two cast members (a supervisor? and a security guard) sitting on their scooters with a beer in one hand and another in their basket. It seems they were cruising around bumping into people and they were in some deep trouble with the cast member. From the conversation that was going on I think they were being removed from the park. The sheer stupidity of some people amazes me but drunk driving an ECV takes the cake. :sad2:

Final thoughts:

We had a great time, BCV is a wonderful resort. We own at Saratoga though and the whole trip we kept saying we missed it. We're staying at WLV next time for the kids but I wish it were at SSR. Ah well, I guess that's why Disney makes all their resorts different. An add-on is definitely in our future but I think it will be for upgrading rooms. Nine days was a bit much for the two of us. Still, I'm already looking forward to our fall trip with the kids!

I hope this hasn't bored everyone!

Thanks for the report :thumbsup2 Sounds like you had a good time overall, but I'm with you, drunk driving ECV's :sad2: what has the world come to :rolleyes1

We love our home resort of SSR and are looking forward to being "home" in just over a month  We're waitlisted for BCV for our Thanksgiving/December trip, hopefully they will have cleaned it up by then :goodvibes
