Back from AKL!- third stay and loved it even though...

.....we did not get upgraded to Savannah view. They were completely OVERbooked! We had a pool view which was still beautiful. Honestly, I did not miss the animals at all.

This is my favorite resort. Any Questions???

Glad to hear you liked it. We will be staying there with a pool view at the end of the month. Where was your room? Did you like your location/floor? And did you notice where the smoking rooms were?

Glad you had a great time We will be there at the end of the month also and planned on full evening at the resort. Do you think that tweens would like the storytelling at the fire pit? Or, could you recommend activities they would like?

We last stayed at AKL almost 4 years ago in 2001, not long after it opened (we're returning next month). We went to the Storytelling at the fire pit one night and my then 14 DD and 11 DS were totally bored within 5 minutes. Now that is just our experience and we might have hit it on off-night, plus I'm guessing they have different storytellers now but IMHO, I wouldn't make a special effort to be there (is it still 7:30PM?) but if you happen to be in the area you may want to stop by and check it out. There really aren't that many activities geared to kids other than the arcade (the lodge tour and culinary tour are definitely worth doing for the adults) but between the pool and the animal watching, my kids were defintely entertained while we were there.

CindyBella-I was impressed with AKL also. We had booked a pool view room and were upgraded to savannah, but next time I will keep the pool view! I think we would actually like that better! I also would like to know if there is a specific room location for a pool view you would recommend.

Did you eat at Boma, Jiko or Mara? I think the restaurants at the AKL are big plus. I loved each of those places!

When you say "overbooked" do you mean that they had to send guests to other resorts or just that they were full?
