And we loved it! We definitely will camp again, just with a new trailer...LOL The two weeks we were there were great, a bit hot, but they were great. The kids loved the pool, we broke down and got a golf cart (very thankful we did). We were in loop 200, 223 to be exact. It was a great site, lots of room, able to fit a 26ft. trailer, a 12x15 tent, a hammock and a 12x12 ez up screen house. The comfort stations seem more luxurious than my bathroom at home, and free hot showers were the bomb. It was nice to be close to the boat launch, and pioneer hall, but stunk tht the pool was so far away. Going for 2 weeks and having your own "home" to rest it at the end of the day is the way to go. Not sure if we will ever use a hotel there again. The only bummer of the whole trip was on the way home. The camper lost the bearing buddies on the axles and they cracked and burned up, so after finding a RV place in Macon, GA, we drove for 15 miles from where we broke down at 20miles an hour to have it fixed. Only to find that BOTH axles needed to be replaced, at the low low price of 900.00. Yikes! And, because the the trailer is so old, they couldnt match them up, so they have to be made. Needless to say, we had to leave the old girl at the RV place so we could get home for monday. So, this weekend, we will be taking a road trip down to GA to pick her up. Would we do it all again............ABSOLUTELY!!!!:thumbsup2

Cool...glad you guys had a good time. Camping at the Fort is indeed the way to go (although I love WL). Sorry to hear about the mechanical trouble.

What! Thats awful Mrs Scooter - If I had to make that ride again right now Id shoot myself in the foot. Im sending you all the positive mental energy I have left - you are going to need it!

OH MAN that stinks! You have to drive back to GA this weekend:scared1:. That is one of my biggest fears of driving so far. I know Murphy pretty well and he usually shows up on our trips. Knock on wood, we have been doing well with our TT.

Have a safe drive.:rolleyes1

I was so tempted to just trade her in right there and bring home a newer one but the husband didnt agree.....rrrrrr. So, once she is fixed and home it will be no more long trips until we do have a new one. So, for the next four years, it looks like we are local only. The big bummer for that is that we have to rent a cabin or another resort if we want to go back before the new trailer. Oh well.....it is what it is, right??? LOL

Glad ya'll hadda great time ! :thumbsup2

Sorry ya'll hadda leave,, and sorrier ya had that axle prob.

The thought had crossed my mind.......how was your trip, anyway? We were so busy that we never had anytime to go and snoop out the disers....very bummed about that. I saw a few in passing, but never had the time actually introduce myself.

With new axles in place you shouldn't have any more troubles travelling. Personally, with that repair I'd not hesitate to take it back to the Fort!

I'm so sorry to hear about the RV problems. That really sucks - Sucks even more that you have to drive back to Georgia to pick it up!

Did some of you sleep in the tent? We're planning to do that next month (in the 300 loop). Figured it'd be nice to split up the five of us and our stuff - some in the tent and some in the camper.

I agree with this...new axels and bearings...fresh grease.....your good for several thousand miles or a few years now!!:thumbsup2

I didn't even see you around(though, I wouldn't have known if I did unless you told me who you were). Sorry that the ride home didn't go smoothly. A ride back to GA from CT is a bummer. Though, I would die to go back, want me to go! ;) I think I would have traded the trailer in, but hey, there were 3 dealerships on the way home that I almost pulled off to check out. And there was nothing wrong with my trailer.:confused3

Hey mrsscooter,
You can always rent a 5th wheel at the Fort from one of the local owners. There is a thread on this camping board that has lots of pics of one they rented. Let me see if I can find it.

Here it is:
5th wheel rented pics

P.S. We went seasonal at Odetah for the 2010 season. You can always come by. It looks like we'll have to wait for another year to drive to FW.

I know, Scott keeps telling me we are good now for a few thousand more BDR, I was just hoping he would give in and get a newer one.....LOL As it turns out, it wont be ready now until NEXT Tuesday because the axles are being farbricated. Oh well, it is what it is.........right?

As far as renting the 5th wheel, trust me, I have been checking it out, especially since BDR posted all those awesome pics.

I saw a bunch of you guys at the fort, just never the right time to say hello, between two anxious kids wanting to go go go, and traveling with friends who had a 4mo old who cried all the time and a "Disney Natzi" husband i had a hard enough time trying to use the bathroom.........LOL So, I guess I will meet you all at another grand gathering.

Our site had two families, us....two adults and two kids in the camper and my brother and sister in law and thier 4mo old baby in the tent. We used the screen house as our "kitchen". We had the picnic table and chairs and end tables with a smaller table that had our coffe pot, crock pot, toaster and griddle on it. It was nice how it was situated because we had the camper towards the front and the tent and screen house behind it. I would recomment the 200 loop to anyone. It was great. We also had friends camping with us across from us in a pop up and they had a tent as well for storage for their clothes and all the extras. You will love it there!!!!

Sorry to hear you had problems. Our bearings seized up on oue trailer earlier this year. It costed us a bundle as we had to get a new axle too. I'm glad to hear you had a great time:)
