Hi Everyone,

My DH and 4yr old DS and I just returned on Fri. from our 13 day vacation (7 nts at the Yacht Club and 6 nts at AKL). We had a great time despite the heat (we are not used to humidity at all up here!). We had pretty good luck with crowds with the exception of MK on Tues. May 9. We walked on to most things and others were minimal waits (usually under 15 minutes). There still seemed to be a lot of people but I guess it couldn't have been that crowded.

We didn't have a car so we used the buses (and they were great). We mostly ate at counter service restauarants except for one character breakfast at Cape May, supper and breakfast at Boma once, and had the Fantasmic dinner package at Hollywood & Vine (and don't flame me, but I still don't care for the show - I was hoping maybe I just missed something the last time I saw it but it still left me feeling like it was lacking something).

If anyone has any questions I would be pleased to answer them. It really was a wonderful trip (although those tips you read on not giving your child milk to drink on the plane and bringing a change of clothes along with ziplock bags was really good advice - I should have listened!). I felt bad for our towncar driver who had to pick us up after the flight (we used FL Tours and they were excellent by the way!).

Please tell me more about your opinion of Fantasmic. I truly am curious as everybody raves about this. We have never done it but were going to fit it in on our trip in two weeks. I've been talking it up to DH and would like to be able to present the negatives as well if there are any.

Thanks!

Welcome Back!

How did you like the Yacht Club? I fell in love with it last summer.:D

As far as Fantasmic goes, I think they relied too heavily on the water screen projections. That's what the majority of the show seemed to be - simply watching images of Disney characters projected on these screens along with some music. I would have rather seen more of a show with more real performances. That is my main complaint. It's not that the show is bad or anything, it just left me feeling like I would have liked to have seen something better that's all. You may really love it as I'm sure this is just my opininion (although I absolutely adore almost everything Disney which is why it still surprises me that I feel the way I do about Fantasmic!).

As for the Yacht Club, yes, I really liked it as well. The location is wonderful and the pool is great as well. My only complaint is the lack of any quick places to eat. Beaches & Cream takeout was extremely crowded most evenings. This may not matter to some but we usually like to grab quick meals rather than wait for sit-down service somewhere. That was the one thing I really liked about AKL. We ate a lot of meals at The Mara because it was so quick. The maid service we had at the Yacht Club was not that great either (our room was never vacuumed and I actually had to call down to nicely ask them to remove a glass full of cigarette butts that was sitting on the table on our balcony when we checked in and was still there 3 days into our stay). I never complained to anyone about it because I tend not to worry too much about trivial things while I'm on vacation but I suppose it could bother some people. I would most definately stay there again given the opportunity because I loved the location and atmosphere.
