I can't even tell how many times I have hit the "back button" lately - especially on political threads. I start to type out something and then realize that life is too short to stress over this stuff.

The "back" arrow - the most useful tool on a keyboard!

So true. I find myself "backing out" on the political threads too. Although sometimes I get ahead of myself, when I SHOULD be backing out.:p

I "hit the back button" earlier. I opened a thread (not a political one) and completely disagreed with what the OP was planning to do, but since most people were giving her hugs and pixie dust and telling her she was right, I didn't want to join the few who disagreed and just "add fuel to the fire" so I hit the back button without typing my opinion.

I do it all the time. I don't get into the political threads, but sometimes regular threads get heated too. I am not a confrontational type of person, so if I write a response and then think better of it, the back button saves the day.
