for all you people going to disney on the DDP... I am so jealous! for all you going for FREE dining... I HATE you!!! this will be the first year we haven't taken advantage of the free dining (did the last 3 years). can't afford it. both lost our jobs. yeah, whatever.
but.... after experiencing it the first years, we actually BOUGHT The dining plan on future trips!!! (yeah, I know, that's what disney wanted to happen,,, they sucked us in!) LOVE IT
we never could have afforded to eatthe way we ate! I felt like a queen! for once, I didn't have to ask hubby... "um, can I get a steak?" and yes it works even if you PAY for the ddp.
a hint.: when we payed for it we did a split stay. got 3 or 4 nights with the DDP package, with6 or 7 day tickets. then a 3 or 4 night ROOM ONLY ressie at another resort.. the DDP is good until midnight of the day of checkout, so we had a nice TS dinner the first night at the new resort!. and since there is so much food, we saved a CS. the first night at POFQ, (the 2nd resort), we bought CS meals TO GO, brought them back to the room and put in the fridge!. then took the boat to downtown, for our last TS. the next day we used the microwave at the food court at POFQ ! voila! and used snack credits at the first resort for some muchies or coffe cake, etc, to save for the 2nd leg of out trip. (not to mention the plant hollywood vouchers fromw the initial package, that we used on the 2nd leg of our trip!)

And I love your hint. So many people say they don't like the DDP because it involves too much work. I LOVE the planning out. On our 2006 Free DDP trip, we took a day to go to US/IOA (1 day left over on tickets from 1999) and the Entertainment books that year had a free meal/movie coupon in it. I managed to snag 4 from friends & relatives and surprised the family with a free lunch at Margaritaville and then gave the movie passes away to unsuspecting people waiting in line to buy movie tickets. My DH thought I was the Goddess of Free food!! ("We don't have to pay here either?!?!?") On a 10 day trip we literally bought 1 meal and that was at the ballpark in Tampa! Oh, how I love the Free DDP!!!
