Back from a week at WDW, so sad for vacation to be over now. I'll be back in December just for a day to see my dad perform in the Candlelight Processional (he's in the CM choir), but I don't know when I'll be back for a true WDW vacation. I hope whenever that time is, I'll be able to share it with a gf, maybe I'll try for Gay Days in June and meet her there! :)
Not much of a trip report, but here were some highlights:
First night there, went down to the Fort Wilderness beach to catch the MK fireworks and Electrical Water Pageant, and there was this fireworks show going off on barges right in front of FW! I discovered it was the American Pyrotechnics Association special performance. Really amazing fireworks, video here.
There was a triathlon that weekend too, really made me feel out of shape, lol!
Took my brother and parents to Artist Point, and this vegetarian gave in and had the salmon, it was really good! It's really hard to be veg*an at WDW, not b/c there are no options, b/c everything smells so damn good! My brother stayed at AKL and the smell coming from Boma nearly did me in!
Also the new pet run at FW is great! We grew up doing vacations in our RV and staying at FW, and it was always sad having to leave our dogs b/c FW never allowed pets. Now they do and even built a huge enclosed dog park, and my brother brought his new puppy Daisy to run around in it. This was actually the best part of my trip!
The only bad part was my parents still not getting the pronouns right. I don't know if there are any other trans folks on this board, but getting called the wrong pronoun in public really sucks. The huge heteronormativity at WDW can be bothersome too, I mean, I wonder how many boys there really wish they could be running around in a Cinderella or Belle costume instead of a pirate.
I also didn't get to PI closing, so sad it's gone now. I have been rewatching Queer As Folk, and Babylon reminds me of Mannequins. Kungaloosh!

Not trying to be rude, but if the food smells so good and you enjoyed the meal you had, why bother being a vegetarian? Why restrict yourself?

I find the world offers so many unique things that I never want to restrict myself on what I eat. I'll try anything (and have tried a lot of different things), but I can say I don't like certain things. Being a vegetarian because of a medical issue (protein intolerance) I could understand, or if you physically cannot stand the look of meats, poultry or seafood, maybe, but to just be one to be one, I never got (again, not saying this is you, refer to my first question).

I went veg*an for moral reasons, as I am involved in cancer research often using animals for tests. I killed too many animals myself, and I could no longer reconcile being a hypocrite for wanting to stop experimenting on animals but still eat them.

Hi Dale!

My DD works with a lot of trans folks and she works tirelessly to help them gain rights and understanding. I myself try very hard to remember when one of her friends changes names or which pronoun they prefer to use. I never mean disrespect but sometimes old habits die hard and I'll call someone by the wrong name. A gentle reminder is all that it takes.

Wishing you all the best-
-Rosie

You beat me to the punch there, but that one was way easy.

You're alway out to get me Ms. Louie -
it should be "old hat" to you - not that intriguing-
monotonous.
Or do you just keep coming at me cause you secretly :lovestruc LOVE me.

Thats why I went veg many many years ago. It began with a chance meeting with a bunch of PETA folks in Wash DC........they had a booth set up all about animal testing, i was horrified. I immediately began only using products not tested on animals, I then went veg as the next logical step.

I almost got fired from a job because I "intimidated" someone with a beagle that was being used for anesthesia testing. The lab was in the same building I worked in at the time.........the person was at the elevator with said beagle in crate.........i just asked a few innocent questions.:rolleyes1

The first time I went into Mannequins, I thought the same thing!

I agree! Except for me, when I saw Babylon for the first time, I thought of Mannequins! Too bad Mannequins didn't have Brian walking around.....
