Yes.. I am back again already!

We are staying in Port Orleans Riverside DD 7 and DH a bit older!
Do you know if all the rooms have a balcony or at least somewhere where hubby and I could sit in the evening to allow our daughter to get over to sleep?
We would really like to be able to have a wee glass of wine or a beer to chill out in the evening and was wondering how we might go about getting alcohol in the resort.

Thanks in advance.

Riverside is a very pretty resort. :) There is no balcony as such but I have seen people taking chairs from the room and placing them outside their room door. It does cause obstruction in the walkway though if people are trying to get past. I doubt you will have a problem getting alcohol. The resort shop sells it or you could even have some ordered and delivered to the resort for when you arrive (which will be much cheaper as quite honestly, I was unimpressed with the wine available at Disney for the most part and it is incredibly overpriced). Another point is that if you order a glass of wine, unless you do so in a restaurant, you are going to be served in/with a plastic glass so this is a personal preference, but if I ever did have my own wine delivered I would geta couple of proper glasses thrown in too.

I have a suspicion that your daughter will fall asleep more easily than you think. I took mine at 6, 7 and 8 years old. She is a terrible sleeper and I go downstairs when she is in bed at home to leave her to fall asleep - often hours later. However at Disney she would come in after a day out at the parks and literally collapse onto the bed, floor or any other surface and be lights out for the next 8 hours. :rotfl:

This was last October, the picture taken less than a minute after she was claiming not to be tired and complaining that I said we weren't going to Downtown Disney ..... I slipped her shoes off, pulled the bedspread over her as she was too heavy for me to move, and she was lying in the exact same position when I woke her the next morning. It has was pretty much the way each day ended.

As others have said, there are no balconies at POR. There are external walkways that the rooms open onto.

The shop at POR sells a selection of beer and wine - not cheap though, and there is a small fridge in the room to keep it cool as well as an ice bucket that you can fill from the ice machines that are located in each building.

Check out this site for more details of the resort and some great photos of the rooms and facilities:

Thanks so much for all the info. Love the photo 2Tiggies!:rotfl:

The website pix are great. Thanks again.x

We booked Old Key West with a balcony precisiely with your idea in mind - we used it once.

Other than that we all went to bed the same time!

Early to bed and making rope drop each day works for us.

Dito. Seem to get a lot done before the rush starts

Thanks everyone. Think I'm being a bit paranoid as my DH is a bit of a snorer and I'm the lightest sleeper ever.. so it's our first holiday with us all in the same room. I do take on board what you guys say though about everyone being so shattered it's not hard to push some ZZZs.

We're there for 14 nights and hoping to do mornings at parks and maybe come back sometime afternoon for a break. Then head out again having dinner and see any shows. Can anyone recommend somewhere nice near the resort for food and a nice drink?

Also... if we did decide to order alcohol when we arrive do you know who you order from? And does the resort shop sell wine by the bottle? Also as we're there for a while is there anyway of visiting a store outside WDW to get groceries/alcohol etc? Goodness I'm really starting to worry how I'm sounding! The Irish, and drink etc.:rotfl:

Thanks again everyone!

:rotfl: It's your holiday! Most people order online from the Garden Grocer. There is a minimum order and a nominal delivery charge but you will save a fortune if you do this rather than buying wine at Disney for 14 days! :scared1: You can buy bottles of wine at the resort gift shop. Another alternative is to take the boat to DTD at some point and walk across to the Hess Station where you can buy alcohol cheaper than onsite prices. I don't know that it is worth the hassle and don't like the idea of crossing that road, but people do it all the time (apparently). Honestly, if I knew that I was going to be sinking a few bottles while there, I would just order it to be delivered and save myself the hassle. You will get it cheaper, have more variety to choose from and save yourself a bundle of time.
