Hi,

My Dh my Ds5months and I are leaving for Disney on Sunday. We do wear him in carriers. I have a moby wrap and a sling ez, and my I forget the name of the one my Dh uses but it's one of the structured ones. What I am wondering is, for anyone who wears their baby at WDW in the summer, how do you do it safely so that neither you or the baby gets overheated? TIA for any help.

I did in March of 2006. Not summer though. I went with my DH, Mom, and sister. We took turns carrying him. It was warm then though, so what we did was take turns carrying him and putting him in his stroller. That way we wouldnt be hot and he wouldnt get burned out with everyone holding him. btw, he was 3 months old.

We did it with our DD when she was 5 months old in August a few years ago! We used a baby Bjorn and my husband and I would take turns. Yes it was hot, but not unmanageable! Try to alternate between being in AC and not as much as possible and when you have a minute, take him out of the carrier for a few minutes so every one can cool off. The baby centers that are located in all 4 parks are a great place to cool off, feed and change baby too!

Also, at the time, my DD was still being exclusively breast fed and I was afraid that if I was a bit dehydrated, maybe I wouldn't be making as much milk, so she wouldn't be getting as much. So, I was sure to drink plenty of water and we gave her a little water in a bottle throughout the day. Just remember, if baby has normal wet diapers throughout the day, he is well hydrated!

By the way, we loved having her in the carrier, so much easier than in and out of the stroller all day! Enjoy your trip!!! :goodvibes

thanks sounds like we should not have a problEm then. I'm just wondering what you had her wear? Did you have her in just a diaper or did you have a onsie on her? Thanks.

Mostly she wore a onsie type shirt with some shorts. I also had some light weight cotton hats to cover her head! And we used Baby Blanket Sunscreen, seemed like the most gentle and especially for babies!

Use the Baby Care stations in the parks! They are air conditioned & private, and very clean. DS7 was 7 weeks old when we went in early September - it was very hot & humid - so I planned to nurse him more frequently than normal, in the Baby Care Centers. They had rocking chairs, microwaves, and everything else you would need to take care of a baby. I did carry him in a front carrier wearing just a onesie & a hat - but I was soaked with sweat constantly. He had been 4 weeks early so at 7 weeks old he was still only 6 pounds - people kept looking in my front carrier to see if there really was anything in there! Other than his tiny scrawny legs sticking out the bottom, the carrier looked empty. He's been back a few times now to WDW & I tease him that the easiest trip I ever took with him was that one when he was an infant!
