Has anyone used the BabyTrekker carrier? I saw it mention in another post, and now I'm very curious about it. I checked out the website and it looks neat. I was about to purchase an Ergo for our upcoming trip, but now I'm thinking the BabyTrekker might be better because it also allows the baby to face forward in the front carry. I also have a sling and a wrap, so I'm just interested in a soft structured carrier now that both DH and I can use. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
Baby trekker is canadian made and I think it is an excellent carrier, very comfortable (looks strange - folds really small so it can be stored easily, unlike the ergo). The wide straps make it that comfortable.
Ergo looks a little nicer, but between the two I found the trekker much more comfortable for carrying.
And front carry facing out is really easy and convenient with the trekker. You can probably find used trekker through Craigslist or ebay. I know here in Toronto Craigslist I see them for sale sometimes for $25 (that's a deal).
Ergo carrier is about $100 new, it's a nice carrier too. Back carry position is more comfortable for older toddler with the ergo carrier (seems to hold toddler more comfortably I think).
Trekker is really comfortable for back or front carry. I was stuck at MCO with some security problem and had my 42lb 3yo ds in the front carry of trekker for over 1/2 hour barely moving. And my back was fine and boy was I grateful to have the carrier then. All the other 2-3 year old kids were driving their parents nuts since we weren't allowed to move until security resolved the situation (still don't know what the problem ever was).
hope this helps, lots of opinions about carriers out there. I've tried many and found these 2 best considering the weight of my toddler when I used it. Last used the ergo when my ds was 45 lbs, then I sold it as he started listening more and could let him walk beside me.
sold the trekker when he was 3-1/2 yrs (42 lbs) since back carry was more comfortable for him in the ergo.
