Babysitting

Has anybody ever used the babysitting service available in WDW resorts? We will be staying at POR in August and are celebrating our 10th Wedding Anniversary whilst we're there. It would be nice for DH and I to get away for an evening without the children.

We've used the Disney kids clubs at the Wilderness Lodge and also at the Neverland Club at the Polynesian. On our last trip in April this year we used the Fairy Godmothers' in room baby sitting service.

Which were you interested in - In room or kids clubs?

I think in-room babysitting would be better, as it will be in the late evening, so if the children get tired, they could go to bed. Did you find this service ok? I have never left the children with a stranger before, so am a little worried about doing it. What were the charges like and do they have a minimum/maximum period of hours?

We had the same concerns about a stranger looking after the kids - but were reassured by the phone call we made to Fairy Godmothers. All the staff are trained in CPR and the girl who looked after our two DDs was lovely (her Mum and Grandmother work for them also). She took the girls swimming (she just watched) which was something we requested in advance, and then took them over to the shop at the resort to buy some snacks (also agreed in advance) then back to bed.

The charge is $12 per hour, with a minimum of 4 hours, plus a $12 travelling charge. So it's $60 minimum, which isn't cheap - but we decided it was our holiday too! (And the Disney club is more expensive than that!)
