Hi -

DH & I and our 20 mo. old are going to DL in Sep - staying at the Grand Californian - is there a babysitting service that Disney recommends (like the one that WDW resorts recommend?) It just hit me that since it's my 2nd visit and dh's 1st, it might be fun to have a few hours alone to do some of the rides together & have a dinner out. :)

Thanks for any help -

I think they use Fullerton Childcare Agency, an outside, licensed bonded babysitting service. (714) 528-1640 is the number I found on Yahoo business listings, but I couldn't find a website. I read somewhere that they are like 4 hours minimum, $40, then $8-10 per hour after that. Not sure how current that info is, you'd want to call.

GCH has Pinocchio's Workshop, kind of like a drop-in care area for kids, but I think they have to be 4 or 5 before they can hang out there.

If your little one is ok with a sitter, or even better if you can get her down to sleep before you go, it would be nice to have a dinner downstairs at Napa, then go hit some big rides!

We just used Sitters Unlimited, the GCH faxed 2 numbers, this was one..she was great!!! DH and I booked her for 6hrs..since the kids go to bed early.she was on time and very very good. She got the kids to bed on time and pretty much read a book while kids slept. They can take them swimming, park, etc..we did not use her the entire time, but paid her for all 6hours, DH & I were tired. It was nice to have the kids in bed early and rested for today!!! The sitter called us before we even left and asked about the kids, she was early as well!!!

I can get phone # ifyou need it.. I had to sign a release before GCH faxed it to me.

Thanks!! I would like to get the number if you have it handy - otherwise, I can call GC. :) So - Napa is really good?? Thanks for that recommendation, too - I'm SUCH a newbie to DL - last visit was my dd,10 & me, and we just winged it but had a GREAT time! The only restaurant we hit was Blue Bayou, which was fun. The suggestion for getting Chip to bed early is a great one - we can easily put him down before we go out!

Thanks very much!!

I also used Sitters Unlimited a couple years ago and had a good experience.

disneyluvbug--Could you PM me the name of the sitter they sent and also the phone number for Sitters Unlimited? I'm thinking of using them again in September, as we will be going at the time of our anniversary and a night out might be real nice!

Thanks!

WeLoveWDW-- Napa Rose is the flagship restaurant of the resort. Very expensive but very very good. Here's a link to the menu: http://www.allears.net/dlr/din/menu/men_nr.htm

Hey, be sure and read Hydroguy's sticky thread at the top of this forum, Hydroguy's Tips Compilation. It will be a huge help to you to figure out how to "do" DL as compared to WDW. He has several articles linked in there about the differences, as well as good touring tips.

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

hehe - I spent all of last night (when I should have been working!) reading Hydroguys sticky -it's fantastic! I have lots more reading to do - but really, really good.

Menu looks fabulous - we'll definitely try it in September!! Thank you!!!

btw - I LOVE DL - Even though we're huge WDW fans, DL beats MK, imho of course.

Do you remember how much you paid for 2 kids for the 6 hours?

It was $15/per hour for 2 kids.. 4hour minimum.. there was also a $7 travel fee. We paid her $100 total...well worth it!!!

welovedwd - you asked for Sitters Unlimited phone number. I've used them and also loved them. Their number is 951-780-7100. If their mssg says they're closed, don't worry, they check in after hours and over the weekend.

Meanwhile, the OP's child is now old enough to drive.

LOL - yeah it threw me for a loop trying to figure out what that was in response to - he is now 3! :) Thank you for the reply in any case! We did use Sitters Unlimited and loved them! I would highly recommend the service.

We also ate at Napa Rose (more than once now!) and it was fabulous - our favorite restaurant there! We've met really fun people, had excellent food and great wine - thanks for the recommendation!
