What is the age for a teenager to start babysitting? And how about at the Disney Resorts, can you leave your teenager to babysit their sibling and a cousin in the hotel? :confused3

It really depends on the teen. I was babysitting at 13 but it was for people in our neighborhood and my mom was always home just in case. As far as leaving a teen in a hotel room, I think if he/she is responsible then it's fine.

Thanks for your response, I wasn't quite sure what was right. My son is very responsible, he is 13. When we go to Disney he will be 14. If anything, we will probably go to a restaurant in the hotel room so we can be close.

Thanks!

I think your 14yo could be responsible for a younger sib while you eat there at the hotel if the 14yo is mature and normally handles the younger sib well. I would not allow them to go to the pool, just stay in the room. Perhaps order room service for them. I wouldn't go off from the hotell though. Too many things can happen and a 14yo in a strange place may not know what to do.

We left our autistic son in the room with his 13yo sister while we sat on the beach at watched the fireworks for an hour, no problem. We had our cell phones on us the whole time.
