Baby's first haircut at MK barber shop

We are leaving for WDW in 2 weeks. My 14 month old son desperately needs a haircut, and I've been holding off since I really want him to have his first haircut at Disney! However, I don't know how well he's going to do as far as sitting through the whole thing. Anybody have any recent experiences with a child this young? Will he be able to sit on my or DH's lap during it? Are the barbers as good as I've read on here with babies this young?? Are they still doing the "First Haircut" ears and certificate for kids first haircuts?

Also, does the barber shop open at the same time as the MK or do they have their own hours? I know you can't make an appointment and am trying to avoid a long line. I don't want him to get fussy waiting in line forever and then attempt to have a complete stranger cut his hair!!!

I think I read like $14 or $16 for a child's cut, Can't remember exactly how much.

I did it a few year back for my sons first haircut. I was also worried about him sitting but they have disney toys for them to play with. It kept him so occupied that he didnt know what was going on. This is now the only place he wants his haircut so now I have an excuse to go back so often. When I went a few months ago the price was $12. IMHO the best time to go is right when they open. Usually when the rope drops I run to the barber. You wont believe how fast a line forms, then you have to wait. It usually stays busy all day, but I have heard it may slow down when the parades go on. They also dont keep the same hours as the MK. They close pretty early so again it is best to get their early since you cant make an appointment. The barbers are very good with the kids, and yes they still do the my first haircut ears and certificate.

It's fabulous. You have to do it!!! I had my nephews first haircut done there. He is EXTREMELY stranger shy. Actually he's pretty shy even when he knows you.....they were WONDERFUL with him.....It's over pretty quick.

They have wonderful ways of distracting them. He sat through it like a pro! At the end, if you tell them it is his first cut, they give a certificate, a lock of his hair (nicely wrapped), and a pair of Mickey ears that says "first haircut"

As far as hours, I think they open at the same time as MK. They may close earlier though....not really sure. And, like I said, they are pretty quick. Even if there is a line in front of you, it moves right along.
