We have 2 Disney trips planned with friends and family.

Our baby isn't here for a few more weeks but off we go.

How old was your baby/kids the 1st time you went to WDW?

First of all, congrats on the impending arrival of your baby!

We took DD to Disneyland when she was 13 mos.

We took DD & DS to WDW when she was 3 and he was 15 mos.

Younger DS was 5 mos. on his first trip to WDW (older kids were 7 & 5 at that time).

Disney is so great at all ages!

I certainly don't know anything about babies and vacations.

I just wanted to tell you how excited I am for you and your husband to finally have a dream come true. I can't wait to see any picture you post. Best wishes for all the excitement that is to come.

DS was 4 and it was a 9 night trip, so a big one. DD was 18 mths & it was a quick trip 2 day MK/Epcot one day & Cape May Breakfast the next. We had one day left on our hoppers, were in Naples & decided to drive up & DD was free;). I will say at 4 with DS it was a great trip he was an easy kid, he went on everything except for SM, ToT, Rock & Roller Coaster. At that time he was the least pickest eater & we ate something at every Country in Epcot.

my eldest 18 months she's 9 now
my middle 4 weeks she's 7 now

our new bundle of joy - well I just found out I was pregnant (3 months along) when we went to ESPN weekend last year. But his first trip is set for October, so he'll be a little over a year old!!!!!!!

Our DS's first trip was at 5 months and, to be honest, we wouldn't do it again that young. I'm sure other people will have different experiences from mine, but we found that taking a young baby was more hassle than benefit.

Our DS would not nap in a stroller, so we had to go back to the resort for nap times. He napped from 9-11 and 1-3, and then had to be in bed by 6:00. It made it impossible to really do ANYTHING at the parks, because we had to be heading back to the resort by the time we got into the gates, practically. I know some babies are more adaptable, and it probably would have been easier with a younger baby who could sleep through anything.

Meals were also a mess because he couldn't sit up in a high chair yet, but wanted to sit with everyone else. It meant that someone was always holding a baby on their lap while eating, and DS got frustrated and bored with meals very quickly and would start to fuss. We cancelled most of our ADR's and ate CS as fast as we could most days.

We took DS to DLR at 15 months and had a MUCH better trip! He was much more interactive with the rides and characters, was walking, could sit and eat with us at meal times, and was only napping once a day in the afternoon.

We are expecting our second child in a few weeks and we will not do another Disney trip until she is at least 18 months.

I'm sure other people will have great stories of traveling with an infant, but that wasn't our experience.

DD did not go as a baby. we were down there for a conference (off property) when she was 10 months old, but we only went to DTD (we just didn't have a lot of expendable income at that point).

DS went down at three months because DH had a conference ON property. we only spent 1 1/2 days in the parks (again, not a lot of expendable income).

DS (the new baby) was down there at six months old. earlier in the year, DD had asked if she could celebrate her 10th birthday at WDW because i cancelled our trip for the half marathon while pregnant. anyway, i told her we would go if a good coupon came out. we ended up with 40% off the resort, so we went. :thumbsup2

for that trip, we stayed at the Contemporary and that was definitely a good decision. other than our HS and AK days, it was very easy for me to get back to the room with the baby (without having someone come with me).

I'll get back to you in a few weeks. :) Ds will be just shy of 6 months old on our upcoming trip. We just booked it about a month ago. Ds naps well in his stroller and is used to going out to eat with us a few a times a week so we are hoping for the best. :goodvibes If he is not happy with going to the parks, we will spend the week hanging out at the AKL. :lmao: We don't plan on doing a ton of rides, just go and stroll around with an attraction here and there.

I am so so excited for you!!! :yay:

We're taking DD in October at 11 1/2 months (for her first birthday).

Our oldest was 14 months for her first trip.

Our youngest was technically about the size of a poppy seed on her first trip...found out I was pregnant on the second to last day of older DD's first trip!! We had all 4 grandparents down there with us so broke the news over dinner at San Angel Inn. Great memory. pixiedust:

But her first "real" trip was when she was 4 months old. Disney is very easy with a baby that age!

Tina thank you so much!!!!!

DS was 12 weeks old. He's now 5 years old.
DD was 9 weeks old. She's now 2.5 years old.

Two of the best trips ever and we have some wonderful photos!
Have fun on your trips with your little one!!!!:goodvibes

Our youngest was 10 months the first time we took him. He enjoyed himself. :)

i wanted to add that we took a stroller and a baby carrier. he went back and forth between those two. it was nice for him to be in the carrier and get out of the stroller. it also helped in areas like Epcot's Land Pavilion, where you cannot take a stroller.

DD13 spent her first b-day at WDW.

DS17 was 3 on his first trip. We were sure we would wait for DD to be that old before she went, :rotfl2: joke was on us. She spent her 2nd b-day at DL.

My older daughter was 13 months on her first trip. My younger daughter will be not quite 13 months when we go this October.
