I just saw this mentioned and I know what it is, but I'm not sure I know how it works. Can someone give me the dummies version? There will be 4 adults and 3 kids - 1 kid is definitely too short for most rides, 1 kid is on the edge, and 1 kid can ride but won't do scary rides. How many passes do we get? How does this work? :confused3

I'd like to know the answer to this also! We'll have a 20 month old when we go. Would love to know how this works! Thanks.

We just returned from WDW, used rider-switch on all fastpass rides that had height restrictions.
Here's what we did:

1.My DH with DS9, DD7 would go in the stand-by line or fastpass line and when they came to the first CM asked for a rider switch card. (Essentially a fastpass for 3)
2.Dh had to point out me and DD2 in crowd to show that we had someone that couldn't go on the ride.
3.They rode the ride.
4.Came off and passed me the rider switch card.
5.I then went in the fastpass line with DS9 and DD7 handed the CM my rider switch card and then we rode the ride.

Super easy.
great way for the kids to experience each ride twice.

You "check in" at the entrance to the ride with the CM. If you qualify (one or more children under the height restriction), one of the adults staying behind will receive a "rider swap" pass.

This works just like a fastpass, except that it has no "return window", and up to 3 people can use it. So some adults ride (either standby or with fastpasses), and the remaining adult(s) wait with the kids. Then the waiting adult(s), and other up to 3 people, can do the ride.

Note you don;t have to do so right away! The rider swap pass is good for the rest of the day...

3 people every time! Even if one or none of the kids were to want to go on that ride & they all had to wait outside? Biggest kid is 43" but might chicken out of the thrill rides.

Is this available on most of the rides? Is there somewhere with a list of rides this is available on?
Thanks

Any ride with a height restriction should be eligible. Any ride with a height restriction and fatspass is definitely eligible.

What most people are talking about is the Rider Switch pass, which is the formal way of doing a child swap at a Fastpass attraction with a height limit, except Star Tours. For some reason they are no longer doing Rider Switch there, and instead you all go through the line and switch at the actual ride.

At other attractions that have a height limit (and there isn't very many), ask the CMs. Someone recently reported getting a Rider Switch-like pass at Barnstormer.
