This probably seems like a really wierd question, but can we do baby swap with a 9 yo? My 9 yo doesnt want to ride several of the coasters but my hubby, myself and our teenage daughter do. Can we babyswap so both adults can ride the ride but not wait in line again to do so?
Thanks

No - the baby swap is offered because a family can not enjoy an attraction due to the height restriction. When its a case of choice rather than a restriction baby swap is not offered.

In your case fast pass will work just as well as baby swap.

It works the same way. One person stays with the 9yo in the swap area and when the others finish the ride you swich and the waiting person goes on the ride.

We did it with an 8 and 7 year old all over the parks a few years back. Some rides were because of height restrictions, some were because one or both kids just didnt want to ride.

Unfortunately this isn't the case anymore, most attractions do not have you wait at the exit now although there are 1 or 2 that still do.

Since the CM's now issue a "rider swap pass" they are very strict about seeing the child who dosen't meet the height restriction before issuing the pass. In our experience in December 05 and February 06 if your child meets the height restriction you can not use rider swap. This included my nephew who just made 40" but was not ready to try Splash Mountain.

The difference is Disney's restriction of access for a family to ride due to height restrictions. In this case they allow baby swap so a family dosen't have to wait twice as long to enjoy the attraction. Again, the CM will insist on seeing the ineligible child prior to alowing baby swap.

If the child is tall enough but chooses not to ride there is no restriction on the family as it is now a choice.

If a family goes to WDW expecting to use baby swap for an older child who chooses not to ride they will be dissapointed if/when they can't do it.

I suggest using fast pass in this case as it will work just as well as baby swap.

If this is the case I wont be riding anything cause my younger dd wont ride the coasters at all (she had a traumatic experience with a coaster and now wont ride them) I guess I will have to let my huby and older dd have all the fun cause there is no way I will wait in line twice!

We were in WDW in September and this past week. When we went in September, the other family we were with had an 8 year old dd who was tall enough for RNR Coaster, but was too afraid to ride it. The CM would not let her have a Rider Switch Ticket because she was tall enough to ride the ride. They said Rider Switch Tickets were only applicable to children who were too small to ride.

Last week, we were told the same thing and they had to make sure that my 5 year old was indeed too short to ride the coaster before they'd give us a Rider Switch for her.

If you use fast pass you won't have to wait twice!

Your dh and older dd ride with their fast pass while you and your younger dd do something else. Then you return with your fast pass while the others do something else. If you use your younger dd's admission ticket to get her a fast pass then your older dd use to to ride with both you and your husband. This turns out exactly the same a baby swap would have.

Trying to help!

My 6 year old is tall enough for Splash, Thunder, and ToT but will not ride them. At all these attractions, they measured her and said that because she is tall enough, they will not issue a 'parent swap pass' and that she had to wait in the line with us and we could swap at the ride itself.

So what we do for those rides is FASTPASS. Works just fine. We take turns that way with a minimal wait.

So its okay for one of use to use her fastpass to ride again? If so that will work out well for us. I know my older dd would like to ride twice and if she didnt my hubby definitely would.

YES! That's what we do. We have an older DD so we have 4 passes and younger DD doesn't ride so older DD gets to go twice, once with each parent!

Just to clarify, you need to use your youngest child's park ticket to get a Fast Pass that you then let your older dd use to ride with you. We do this with my parents tickets when they don't want to ride Tower of Terror, so that my dds get to ride again.

Sorry to poke my nose in...but could you please explain to me what baby swap is?

We are a family of 5. DH, myself our 3 DD's 12, 10 and 4....I"m very concerned that our 4 year old and one of the adults will be waiting around alot while older DD and DH or I take her on rides. Our 10 year old DD is not into them.

Thanks!

You go to the regular line entrance with the child who is too small to ride. Tell the CM that you want to do Baby Swap. The CM will give you a "Rider Switch" ticket. The group who is going to ride the attraction first goes through the regular line while the child and adult wait outside. Once the first group gets off the ride, the adult who stayed with the child takes the "Rider Switch" ticket to the FastPass entrance. Also, with the Rider Switch, you can bring up to 3 people back through the line. So, some members of your party could ride twice (once through the regular stand-by line and again with you using the Rider Switch). I hope this makes sense.

So DD7 will ride with DH and when I give him DD6mos., DD7 can go on with me again? :)

DD7 is especially excited since she gets to ride twice! Looking forward to it.

It all depends on who is at the enterance of the attraction. Some CM's don't care others are just rude about it.
