Anything with a height requirement will offer child swap. It exists to help parents with children too short to ride.

What about Toy Story Mania? It seems to me that you can only ride with two people per car. What if you are a family of 5 with children too young to really ride by themselves?

I think TSMM offers child swap. Alternatively, and depending on the child, you can fit a small child in with two other people in a car, but one person won't be able to play.

Yeah...I can't imagine that going over well in my household unfortunately. Here's hoping for rider swap at TSMM!

Anyone hear anything or have any educated guesses if they will be keeping child swap when FP+ starts and/if FP phases out. I sure hope so.

I would bet they will keep it...
But the real question is will 2nd parent/rider have to use a FP+

The way the WE use the current system :

1: DH and older child get FP, they are given a rider swap pass..

2: Mean while I go and get FP for another ride..
Come back and swap.. I get to ride 1st ride w/ older child ( going through FP using rider swap pass)

3. Then we all go to the 2nd ride..
I use the FP.. Get a rider swap pass for DH and older child!

While they are off getting another FP ( if the window is open)
I exit and the ride and then DH and older child rides using the rider swap pass!

And then move on..

Can someone explain to me how exactly baby swap works? I thought you just line up in the regular line, then each take a turn, swapping the little one in between rides. However a friend told me you don't need to line up in the regular lines? That seems too good to be true!

We'll have our toddler in tow who will be too small for a lot of rides (about 35 inches), but hubby and I are hoping to take our almost 6y old old on most of the bigger rides, she's tall:)

Thanks!

Typically it goes like this. You and your family walk up the CM at the entrance to the Fast Pass line. You tell him you want to do the Parent Swap. He or she gives you a Fast pass like ticket. Your spouse goes on with whomever can ride with him. You either wait on a nice shady bench or go on another ride. When your spouse is done then you can go through the Fast Pass line with your ticket which allows you and up to three additional guests to ride with you. Since this is not really a fast pass, you can still get fast passes for other rides when you are waiting for your parent swap ride.

Thanks - that sounds great. Just to clarify, when you get the first parent swap ticket for the first riders, do they then line up in the stand by line, or do they get to go in the fast pass line? Or is there some sort of third line?

I believe the first rider goes in FP if they have a FP, and standby if they don't. The second rider(s) use FP regardless by virtue of the swap pass.

Doesn't everyone who enters the FP line have to have a FP, including the non-riding child?

Mostly--the non-riding child cannot enter either queue--but we are discussing the mechanics of baby/child/parent swap.

I could be wrong in my previous post, but until someone who knows more comes along....

I found the description below on TP.com. I'm curious to know if anyone can confirm from actual experience.

When you approach the queue, tell the first ride attendant you see that you want to switch off. The worker will allow everyone, including young children, to enter the attraction. When you reach the loading area, one adult rides while the other stays with the kids. Attractions at some parks offer waiting areas for this purpose. Then the riding adult disembarks and takes charge of the children while the other adult rides. A third adult (or child who meets the minimum height or age requirement) in the party can ride twice, once with each switching-off adult, so that the switching-off adults don't have to ride alone. There is no cost to use the "switching off" option.

On FASTPASS attractions, the park may handle switching off somewhat differently. When you tell the worker that you want to switch off, he or she may issue you a special "rider exchange" ticket good for three people. One parent and the nonriding child (or children) will at that point be asked to leave the line. When those riding reunite with the waiting adult, the waiting adult and two other persons from the party can ride using the special ticket. This system eliminates confusion and congestion at the boarding area while sparing the nonriding adult and child the tedium and physical exertion of waiting in line.

I believe at least parts of that text are outdated.

Help, someone with recent experience?

That description is outdated. We've done two trips using the rider switch recently. We go to the entrance to the FP line and ask the CM for a rider swap pass. If we have FP we take the older child through the FP line, if not regular line. Then the other parent and up to 3 other people can go through the FP line on the child swap.

Thanks. So, let me pose a scenario. We have two adults, two children who will ride and one that won't. We want to ride Splash Mountain and BTMR. We get two FPs for each. BTMR window comes up first, so we get rider swap passes, I ride with one child, then DW rides with the other, swapping off the non-riding child in between. Then we go to Splash Mountain and do the same thing. Does that work?
