ok, so a freind from work is pregnant with her first child, and the shower is coming up in a couple of weeks.

so the invite included information abut where she's registered.

I looked at her registry. she's got a lot of stuff in various price ranges.

it's all very practical stuff for the nursery.

the store is inconvenient, but they also offer on line shopping.

I could get her something from the registry, bt I'd really rather buy something else -- a pretty outfit for the baby, since I know she's havign a girl ad that she doesn't have any clohes for the baby.

is it ok to do that? or should I stick with the registry?

I usually buy both, something from the registry and an outfit that I cannot resist. Lol, that way I am at least partially following the 'rules'.

Either way is fine.
The things on her registry is things that she wants or needs for the baby.
But since this will be here first, she will need alot of things and clothes is a very useful gift.

That's a great idea. It really is fun shopping for baby clothes, but I would feel sort of bad if I didn't get something off the registry.

You are buying her a gift. You get to buy what you want. That's why it's called a gift. I think the registry is good but I have never felt like I had to buy something from it.

The last shower I went to I didn't get stuff from the registry. I got her several outfits, knew it was a girl and I had two boys so I love buying little girls clothes. I also got her those cute little socks that look like Mary Janes. I had fun buying the gifts, and I think she liked them, and she didn't get a lot of outfits.

I usually always buy from the registry and I don't buy clothes because once you have the baby anyone to come to visit in the hospital brings a gift (clothes) and when you are home as people come in to see the baby they bring a gift (clothes) so we always end up with enough clothes.

When I had my shower years and years ago, I knew I was having a boy.
I LOVED receiving clothes for him as a gift. It was very much appreciated.
