Baby Shower Gift?

Bibs with SNAP closures instead of velcro. The velcro catches on everything in the dryer. I ruined a few articles of clothing because of that. They are harder to find in the stores than 5 years ago.

The other thing I didn't spend the money on but wish I had was a video monitor. The regular one didn't bother me when she was small, but as she got bigger I really wanted to see what she was doing when I put her down. Is she sleeping? I didn't want to open the door to check.

I have given a gift certificate for portraits too.

Late to the party, but I too get books and picture place gift certificates. Here we have The Picture People and Portrait Innovations, so a modest gift card ($25-$35) goes a long way.

I'm expecting our first and two things I want but can't bring myself to put on the registry are Sophie the Giraffe and the Aden & Anais swaddle blankets. They are very highly reviewed but I have people in my family that I will never hear the end of it from if I register for things they think are overpriced.

Are you kidding? I would just put anything I wanted on the registry, if someone doesn't like it they don't have to buy it! I put a 279.00 stroller on mine and people from one of my jobs chipped in and got me it! I never expected one person to buy it and spend that much.

I got a bunch of outfits in different sizes for my sister. Along with some booties, socks, hats, small blankets, and a teddy bear. Then I hung them all on a clothesline with wooden clothespins and put them in a basket. You have to get a couple of people to hold the chothesline as she pulls it out,

One of the guys from my job got me outfits in every size from 0-3 months to 24 months! I loved that gift!
Before my daughter was born I stocked up on all sorts of books so I am glad no one bought those- I had almost the whole Dr Seuss series before she was born!

One of my friends strung together bibs (one for each month). It was so cool to keep pulling them out and seeing all the different ones (themed to the month). I have twins so it was 24 bibs, all different!

The past 3 baby showers I have gone to I made... I purchased onesies in all different size ranges.... then designed and ironed-on 1 month, 2months, etc. for all 12 months and then a birthday onesie for the first birthday....
I boxed all 13 of them super cute and added one of the frames that has a slot for each month and the first birthday...

ps... it was nice to get monthly pictures of the baby in a text from the moms.

I used to buy gift cards to the video store. That was more of a Mommy/Daddy present than a baby present. But Mommy and Daddy need a little entertainment in the living room while baby is sleeping. What better than to watch the latest video.

Unforunately, Redbox, Netflix and instant streaming caused most video stores to shut their doors.

However, I did find this. A Redbox gift basket.

Or, this would be cheaper. Buy your basket, popcorn and candy at your local store, then go here to buy gift Redbox codes.

Unfortunately, Redbox does not sell actual gift cards. But include a statement in your basket telling her to "check your email" when she gets home. The codes are sent directly to her email.

Good luck. And thanks for bringing this up. My niece is having baby early next year, and with all the Blockbusters closing, I was wondering what to give her.

If she has a baby registry then choose a gift from that so you can give the gift of her choice. Else carry cot, baby socks set, yoga CDs and magazines for the mother, Beautiful mom and baby charm or pendents, baby carrier ring slings, baby bath tubs and baby cosmetics like soap and shampoo kit are some of the best options to choose from.

Most useful gift we got for Z? My friend gave us an "Oh $hit Kit" with things we might need but not think of ourselves. Sure enough, it has been so useful! It had baby tylenol, baby vicks, a thermometer, gas drops, teething gel, some teething rings, baby butt cream, and a few other things I can't recall right now. The first time Z had a fever, that Tylenol saved the day. First cold? Baby Vapo-rub really helped her breathe. Crying from an upset tummy? Gas drops to the rescue! It was great to not have to run to the store to get these things and to know I had them at hand. I never would have thought to buy them on my own as a first time mom.
