Hey Everyone,

Hey Aulani travelers. We will be booking a Grand Villa in Aulani next year and will need to baby proof some areas because we will have a 2 and a half year old with us. Any thoughts on locks for the sliding glass doors. Obviously we do teach our son to avoid certain things and keep a watchful eye on him but we would rather be safe than sorry. Especially at night.

Any thoughts? If needed I am willing to buy baby proofing supplies when we get to Hawaii and leave them there for a baby safety swap.

Thanks!

Scott

Scott do you mean for a 2 1/2 year old child?

I would hope the resort has a double locking system on the sliding balcony door. There probably will be outlets that will be exposed. And a chain lock on the door leaving the room. Bed rails should be available on request. Not sure how else you can baby proof an hotel room and not damage any of the furniture or walls.

A 2 1/2 month old, you mean a 2 year old? You could bring a sliding glass door lock in your suitcase if you're concerned. They are about $12, adjustable and do not require you to drill into the wall. Personally, every resort has a different double lock set up but none of them are partucularly easy to open but maybe that's because I'm an adult! :rotfl2:

Exactly what I was thinking. I always struggle with them, especially the one at BLT. I think I've remarked a few times where a three year old when you need one?

Ha! Yes. I mean 2.5 year old. It is too early for me! Thanks for the catch. Nice to know about the bed rails. I figure we will do a survey of the room before our grocery shopping trip and perhaps buy something at a local store. With the rising cost of traveling with luggage I don't know what we will bring with us and what we will buy there. That is why I was thinking about setting up a swap. Even if it's just electrical outlet plugs and a sliding glass door lock or something. :)

Thanks!

Thanks! Yes, I mean 2 and a half year old. Heh.

I was thinking about a sliding glass door lock. I may buy one there just so I can check out what it looks like before I buy and pack something here at home.

I understand about those locks. I can't open our cupboards right now at home due to the child proof locks.
