Hiya

Im from the uk and I am coming to Florida in January (flying Jan 1st) I will have a six week old then (a shock lol)

I was just wondering if anyone can advise me how much roughly diapers are in the states, its just carrying alot of them from the uk is going to be difficult if we have to stay with in our luggage allowance.

Over here a pack of huggies is roughly $15 for 16

thanks

anna

Not baby prices but you may want to check with your airline, alot of long haul flights require medical note to allow babies under a certain age to fly. It is probably worth double checking now rather than later (I'm in the UK too)

Big congrats on the pregnancy! Will this be your first? Also for diaper buying in this country- try tesco instead, you'll pay around $8 for a pack of newborn huggies (I have 4... I've spent alot on nappies over the years LOL) and sign up to both huggies and pampers email lists- they send regular money off coupons too

hiya

yes I have checked with the airline (the youngest they let them fly is 4 weeks old)

and the midwife, us embassey (because of injections)

my midwife actually laughed at me for asking as she said some airlines let you fly from 10 days

so I have covered those bases

the baby will be between 6 and ten weeks (alowwing for my dates to be wrong or the baby late)

I definatly must be shopping in the wrong place

Fabulous news, I can just remember my sil having issue flying with her son but he'd been a preemie so i think they counted from his due date, not his arrival if that makes sense.

Tesco has a good price checker on line to compare product prices, although they do vary area to area I'm told- I'm in the midlands which seems cheaper than my sisters in Hampshire. Mothercare is always highly prices for baby essentials- by #4 i avoided it for absolutely everything except what i couldn't find anywhere else! (Things like breast pads, babywipes, sheets, blankets, towels- all cheaper at tesco, wilkos, superdrug etc... mothercare sleepsuits are around 2 to 3 times the price of other shops!) Sign up to boots baby club and tesco baby club too and again, more money off coupons. Tesco had half price on all it's tommee tippee the other week (closer to nature breastpump is a really good one i found) H&M is pretty good for affordable, fashionable summer maternity wear if you have a large branch locally (£10 sun dresses during my last pregnancy)

Go onto the walmart / walgreens /Target etc websites. They will give you prices for the nappies and anything else.
We have found that they are slightly more expensive than here (UK) but not by a huge amount. You can pick up lots of other baby things much cheaper though.

I generally pay around 25 cents a diaper. (I would not pay more than 30 cents - and that's for the larger sized diapers). I buy either huggies or pampers. For size 1 diapers I would pay 30-35 dollars for a box of 216 diapers.

I don't have any children but I do know that a large box of diapers (pampers or huggies) generally runs about $30 and a 98-100 count runs about $18-20.

OP - nice to see you will be taking a 6 week old miracle to Disney for his/her first trip. DH and I were married in January and are trying for our first little one! We are planning a trip for March 2009 and if all goes well, we will have a 2-3 month old :) I know that's young to take to Disney, but I know we can have a wonderful trip as long as we are aware of everything we need to do to keep baby comfy :thumbsup2 Congrats on your little bundle of joy!

Since my DD3.5 finished with diapers almost two years ago :woohoo: I've really been trying not to pay attention to the cost of a bag of 40 or so Huggies, but they should be around $13 for a small size (at least that's what I just read on Drugstore.com).
