Hey Everyone!

I am very excited that my older sister is having a girl, but she loves the name Callista.( She loves unusaul names) I personally don't like it. If you have any unusual girl names, please post so i could pass them on to my sister!

Thank you very much!
*Taylor*

* My sister is due Sep. 30th. She has a 3 yr. old son and is excited to have a new baby girl*

not that unusual (but we've not run into very many)-

marissa. it can be altered into a variety of names 'maris', 'mari', 'isa' (pronounced e-sah), 'ari'.

tell your sis to talk to adults who have unusual names-most of us hated it as kids (could'nt find anything with our names printed on it, subjected to teasing)-i have several friends who have legaly changed theirs to more traditional names (a male 'shannon' to 'joe', 'celestlial' to 'celeste', 'morning dove' and her sister 'echo' to much more common names).

There was a thread similar to this a few weeks ago and the list of names got pretty long.

We liked Analia (pronounced Anna-lee-a) for my second daughter.

My sister is due Sept.29. She also has a three year old. She just found out she is having another girl. She likes the name Bianca. I'm not crazy about it but it's better than some of the other names she likes.

My name is Denae. I didn't like it as a child, mostly because it was paired with my very German, 13 letter long last name. I love my name as an adult.

Denae

If and when we have a little girl she will be named Cecily.

I also like unusual names.

How about Elle? I like it, and it's not that unusual, but it's not often used.

Keep in mind that this is not your baby, but your sister's. When you have your own baby you can name it whatever you want! :) :lmao:

My sister wanted to name her son Anthony James. The last name is Pompeii. I hated that. It sounded too....too....mafia for me. I envisioned this bully on the playground beating kids up and then saying "don't mess with Anthony Pompeii."

Of course, not my child, not my choice.

Not little Anthony is all grown up (he turns 18 this fall) and I couldn't imagine him as anyone other than "Tony." :)

My apologies if your daughter has this name, but all I see is the first four letters of Anal.

I think Callista is a lovely, uncommon, yet legitimate name. I would much rather see a little Callista than another little Mikayla, McKenzie, or Madison (again, my apologies to parents of these girls, but those lovely names are getting very popular).

Maybe I'm a little out of line but I don't think it's a good idea to present your sister a list of "alternative" names. She chose a name she loves and that should be all that matters. I know if my sister did that to me, I would be peeved.

P.S. I like it :teeth:

I have cousins named Autumn Skye and Aryah and Jaelynn
I like the name keira

I am sorry for the confusion, my sister hasn't amde up her mind yet and is open to new names. Again, sry for the confusion. :thumbsup2

Well, I like Abigail, but that is not unusual these days. For slightly unusual, I like Samira and Laila (they're both Arabic in origin). But I also like Callista.

Thanks to all of that have posted. I have noticed thoguh that people are saying i shouldn't give her new names, but she is very open to new names. Callista was just one name I could remember from the list of like 50. Again, thanks for all the posts and please keep them coming! :thumbsup2  :sunny: :yay:
