my baby is going to be 7 months old when we go on holiday, i'm tryin to work out how much milk to take. has anyone got any ideas do i take loads or just what i need.
thanks

Do you mean Formula? If your baby drinks a regular formula like SMA or Cow & Gate, then the US version (Simillac) is identical. Both mine switched to this without a problem whilst on holiday. Its available in powder or ready made. I took several packs of those "one feed" sachets in case they didnt like the Simillac.

If you are going to take a supply from home for 2 weeks, then I would allocate 3 large tubs of powdered formula. Its is allowed into the US without a problem (though it will weigh your cases down!!!). Alternatively, if your baby is weaning and has only 3 /4 feeds a day, then a lighter alternative (but a bit more expensive!) is to take the individual sachets.

Personally, we found the Simillac fine and I was surprised as DS was quite fussy at home when I switched brands.

If I can answer anymore "baby questions" please ask away!!

PS: Make sure you check out the Baby Centers at all the Parks. They are truly wonderful and offer EVERYTHING you need for baby (including microwave, bottle warmers, cooled water, changing mats, high chairs, spoons, bowls, wipes, spare clothes, bibs, nappies, food, formula as well as TVs to keep older siblings and husbands amused!!).

When I had to take formula, I calculated how much she had now in a week and took 1 weeks extra. This is in case of accidents. The worse case would be that you can't get it in your case on the way home and you have to leave it. For the journey I was worried about delays so I took double the amount needed for the time in my hand luggage. I measured out the amount needed into clippy bags and made up the formula as needed. This meant I didn't have to worry about keeping it cool.

Have a great holiday.

It's nice to see that you ladies are forward thinking enough to take extra supplies in case of an emergency. Unlike that dreadful woman I saw on Airline last night (ITV2 9.00) who blamed everybody other than herself because she didn't have enough baby milk for her 1 year old as they had a four hour delay. When one of the Holiday Reps left the airport specifically to buy baby milk powder for her. It was virtually snatched out of her hand with the words"It's not the right stuff but it will do":hyper2:
I'm afraid I would heve had to tell her where to get off.

Hi

I watched that programme as well last night and was shocked with her attitude. You have to think of worst case scenario. Planes can easily be delayed. Luckily our boys will not be on formula when we go. Some people can be so stupid sometimes and ungrateful. It was her fault that she didnt have enough.

If its SMA you should be ok. Just take a couple of packs of sachet ones so you dont have to worry about keeping the milk cool and just incase you have a delay you will have sachets as a back up or if you can take some or buy some ready made milk in cartons.

Good luck with your holiday. Your lo will need a lot more milk and juice as it is so hot out there and dehydration can easily happen.

Have a nice time.

Regards
Michelle
