Do you take it with you? Do they sell the same brands over there if we run out?

thanks.

I don't think you can take it, I remember having ready made baby milk taken away from me by the cabin crew, when they check if you have any food etc. I was quite shocked at the time that they would take baby milk away, but they did!

I'm panicking now!! How do you feed when you get there?!?!

I think you can take power - just not ready made milk!

You can take in powder & I would definately advise on it. Baby milk is expensive (about $6 for ready made for 1 day). They do not sell the same brands as over here and as their regular milk often has growth hormones & things in, I'm not sure that their baby milk would be particularly "pure" either! I would also take your own nappies as US ones (although pampers) did not seem to be as absorbent & it was the only time DD had nappy rash ( but could also be the heat/water etc).

Hi. It depends on the brand but I wouldn't take the chance of getting it over there. We took two tins of powdered baby formula with us last year, no problems at all. Our daughter was on Farleys Follow On milk and that is definitely not for sale in the U.S. (I emailed the company and it was confirmed).

Regarding the nappies, they sell Huggies and Pampers. We had groceries delivered to our resort on the first night including nappies, baby rusks, wipes, shampoo, juice and tons of other stuff. It worked out great!

Each morning before we left our room we measured the correct amount of scoops into a little lunch bag and put that into a clean dry bottle so when the time came to give the baby her bottle the milk was fresh as it hadn't been made up hours ago, hope that helps. We used regular bottled water which I was initially a bit weary of but it worked out great.

If you want to see which brands/types of formula they sell in the Orlando area go to www.gardengrocer.com (online grocery delivery service) and put in the Orlando zip code 32801 and click on 'Baby' and then 'formula' and you'll see the brands you're likely to get anywhere in Orlando. They don't look familiar but even if they did, as a previous poster said, they could be made with different ingredients as the rules governing baby formula would be different in each country. But it's interesting anyway to browse through the U.S. food and stuff! lol

Good luck!

You can take baby formula into the US - even the ready made stuff, but its easiest to buy the sachets that make up one feed (the tins weigh a ton!). The main brand in the US is Similac which is closest to our SMA brand. Ive used it twice as both my older children were SMA babies - they took to the Similac with no problem at all.

I will be taking my new arrival at Xmas and wont be able to take 3 weeks supply of formula, so I will take some SMA sachets with me and gradually introduce the Similac. Couple of things to note - they dont sell formula in those handy carton like we have, so take a container to measure the right amount of scoops into (Avent do one with 3 sections). American parents dont sterilise, so take everything you need - I utilised an Ice bucket with a lid and popped in a milton tablet, this worked fine! Mothercare now sell a travel steriliser which is worth a look too.

Take Nappy sacks with you as I couldnt find any on any of my trips with babies!

I found it handy to keep a couple of the "ready sterilised bottles" that Boots sell in my flight bag in case of delays.

Our DD had SMA Gold which we took in a tin plus sachets for when we were out in the day. (incidentally, Tesco here dont stock the sachets now, shame as I will need them once I stop breastfeeding baby due July!) I called SMA and they told me their product is sold in Florida as a home brand at one of the stores. Cannot remember which now, we never needed it but I made a note of it just in case. When DD was less than 1 year we boiled tap water in Florida, after that we used room temp bottled water to make formula. Choose one like Evian with low sodium, just check the labels in the the store to compare. DD always was happy to drink room temp milk so we carried boiled/bottled water in her bottles and added the powder as and when. After about 18 months we just gave her US full fat mik which was fine, but not as convenient when out as it is very cold when you buy it at a snack place but in the villa we could warm it a little. DD would drink fresh milk or formula if necessary until she gave up drinking milk aged 2.5 this January.

We found that she would take Similac too, we bought it in cans like Coke. but as others said it is very pricey.

First trip we took a cold water steriliser and after that she was too old for sterilising so we just used the dishwasher. With our new baby i would buy a travel microwave steriliser, or those sterilising bags. As mentioned before US parents dont tend to sterilise for long, maybe just for unwell or premature babies or for the first couple of weeks. But the WDW parks baby centres had Avent steam sterilisers in. If you get stuck for a bottle in the parks , you could go to one to wash and sterilise a bottle you used earlier

We only took enough nappies for a couple of days and bought them there, same for swim nappies. We bought all Johnsons baby products there too. You can but packs with minis of each thing in. All the major nappy brands are available but we found the Pampers had different names for their products, ie still Pampers but not called Active Fit. We liked active fit for the stretchy sides and did not like the other ones. Look carefully at the packets so you choose the ones you regularly use. Also weigh baby, as their sizing varies from ours so you know which size to buy. If she was in between sizes (the weights tend to overlap)we always bought the bigger size as a wriggly baby and a too small nappy is a disaster!

Hope your plans are going well. You will have a GREAT time. Get down to Premium Outlets and buy your little one some fab clothes in Carters, Little Me, Tommy. Ralph and Osh Kosh. We loved the Gap Outlet at Belz too, great baby stuff.

Cannot wait to get back there once new baby is old enough! Need to stock up on US boys clothes!!!

Mandy xxxxxxxxxxx 30 weeks pregnant which no trip booked for the first time in years. Dreaming of next may perhaps..............

Thanks for your replies everyone. Feeling much happier now with what I'm doing! :thumbsup2
