With it being so cold for most in the country what are you doing to stay warm?

I have a few small heaters that I turn out to heat up the bathroom, yes my bathroom seems to be the coldest room in the house. I will then bring it into my office and keep it nice and toasty. We just put in a gas fireplace and baby that thing really puts out the heat.

Plenty of homemade soups, hot cocoa, and an a nice warm fleece blanket.

My fleece Betty Boop pajamas, hot tea, cozy socks, and most important of all......my electric blanket!! I turn that baby on high about an hour before bed to get it all cozy and then turn it down to comfortable for sleep.

P.S. Hey Kitty, happy new year! I haven't seen you around in ages.

If you are my teenage son you say "It's not cold" Put on a sweatshirt and freeze your butt off. We have that arguement every morning. And it's 24 today.

I have found putting on a pair of fuzzy socks helps keep me warm. I bake a lot now too. In fact trying to decide what to bake today.

We put plastic over most of the older windows in our house.

We dress in layers, and add an extra sweater when it's bitterly cold, wear socks and slippers.

Flannel sheets, extra blankets on the beds.

Wrap up in a quilt or blanket when sitting on the couch watching TV, sip hot coffee or tea or cocoa.

I do a lot more cooking/baking in the winter months too. And homemade soups.

I pretty much hibernate during this time of the year. I only get out when I have to!

Turn up the furnace? :confused3:lmao:

I also use warm socks and an old flannel shirt of my DH's that I throw on when I get chilly. :goodvibes

This year, I bought Lands End silk long underwear. It's been wonderful. I commute and wait outside for a train and a bus in Chicagoland, and it has really helped with the chill.

I don't know HOW to stay warm. As a Floridian, I've worn flip flops all my life and maybe a sweatshirt or two. Now that it's freezing (there was ice on my wind shield this morning and all of my plants are frozen!) I'm lost. I bought a space heater, added an extra blanket to my bed, broke out my old wool coat, but that's all I've got!

I think I need a snow suit and a personal body heater...

I've been wearing silk long johns under my clothes. My dh bought me a pair that are Wintersilks a couple of years ago, which are really nice. Last week I ordered another pair from Sierra trading post that were much cheaper (I think around $20 for top and bottom). They are thin but insulate well. Now if I could just keep my hands and feet warm!!

Layers, layers and more layers! I have a little space heater in the bathroom too, that ceramic tile is COLD at 6 am!! I just got one for my office at work too, because I'm always colder than my coworkers and can't heat up the whole office. In the evening while watching TV I snuggle under the electric blanket and we have flannel sheets and a heated mattress pad on our bed. we have a big old house but only "live" in a few of the rooms, 3 empty bedrooms right now, so we try to keep warm without cranking up the heat and spending all that money to heat empty space.

My 18 year old DD would answer this question with "my new Snuggi!", she loves that thing!

Layers and flannel lined jeans! I love the jeans. I was skeptical at first. I don't want bulky jeans. But they fit about the same as my regular jeans. I've gotten compliments on them and people didn't even know they were flannel lined. :thumbsup2 Warm!

I try to stay active to keep warm. I do a lot of snowshoeing and hiking in the winter and continue marathon training which keeps me pretty warm out there. Other than that it is the same as every year. Dress warm enough for the weather and keep the head covered.

I would say lots of coffee but for me that has nothing to do with the cold. I walk around Disney in 90 degree heat with a hot cup of it. :lmao:
