I was wondering if anyone is aware if we are allowed to take jars/containers of baby food on the plane? We are going in Feb and I'm not sure if DD will still need it or not (she'll be 10 1/2 months) but I would like to be prepared. Thanks in advance for your help!

Pack them in a quart sized zip lock and you should be fine. Each ticketed passenger is allowed one quart size Ziplock with as many up to 3.4 ounce containers as they can fit and still close it.

All my baby food jars are 4 1/2 fluid ounces. Will those be allowed if they are sealed?

That's a good question. Mine are all 4 oz jars and I'm not sure. Hopefully someone can let us know! When are you going?

After reading into the article further, it does say "Canned, jarred, or processed baby food is permitted in your carry-on baggage and aboard your plane."

It looks like we will be ok to bring the food!

Have a great time!

If the size of the jars is a problem, you might consider taking the Stage 1 types -- I know Beech Nut's are 2.5 ounces.

I've taken the regular size jars (4 oz.) through security with out any problems. Just make sure you have them out so they can see them.

Sure it is allowed, as long as it is in a 3 oz container or smaller. You may be able to get a larger container through security, but I wouldn't count on it.

I would also like to know the answer on this. My baby is 5 1/2 months old. We are going in April.

I've never seen a jar smaller than four ounces. Is it availible only in the US? We use the organic presidents choice line and the only size that they have is the 4 1/2 ounce jars. Even the Beech Nut's in the gorcery store are 4 ounce sizes also.

Yep, here the Beech Nut (and Gerber too, I think) have what they call "Starter Size" -- mostly Stage 1 foods -- I used them when DS just started solids and I wasn't sure if he'd like a certain food.

The US website lists the 2.5 ounce size:

But the same page on the Canadian site lists 4.5 ounces!

Does anyone know about tubes of desitin?

From what I'm reading--as long as it is in a container that is 3 oz. or smaller it would be OK (larger container only half full is not OK)--check the tsa.gov website that was listed above.

If its under 3 oz you should be fine. We are packing DS ( 4 months) big tin of penatin in the checked and have a travel size for the flight. Since he's technically not a ticketed passanger I guess he doesnt get his own ziploc bag. So DH and I are just going to put his stuff in ours because of course he's teething so I dont want to check any of his tylenol or his ambysol. My luck he will have a serious melt down as we are going through security.

It seems the airlines are pretty lenient when you are bringing stuff for your baby. You just have to "declare" it before going through security. They make you take it out and put it in one of those bins to go through the carry-on security check point separate from your bags. We've traveled quite a bit with our son since he was a baby and it has never been a problem to bring food, drinks, or medicine for him. :)
