We'll be traveling to POFQ 4/27-5/1 with our then 7 1/2 month old and I'm afraid to pack jars of baby food, either afraid they'll break or just the weight issue.

Does anyone know if the gift shop would sell Size 2 baby foods? and if so would they have a variety, or am I better off bringing my own.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, this is our first time traveling with our daughter and will be her first time on a plane.

Thanks
Cathy

I think the resort gift shops have a limited supply of baby foods. If you dotn want to bring them with you and you arent renting a car I would either grab a taxi and go tot he grocery store or have one of the grocery delivery services bring you an order of what you need.

Gerber makes baby food that is in portable plastic containers the same size as baby jars. The containers are resealable too, so if you don't finish it all in one sitting, you can just put the top on and go! At least no breaking glass!!! I'm not sure what they sell in the resorts, but I imagine you can get more of a variety bringing your own from home.

I would use one of the grocery delivery services. I think there might be a $50 minimum but that shouldn't be too hard to reach. At POFQ, you will have a refrigerator so you could order baby food, diapers, swim diapers, sunscreen, drinks, and snacks, that should easily be $50. I'm sure the baby food is expensive in the resorts.

If you do decide to bring baby food jars they are VERY hard to break so if scattered thru your suitcases I think they would be fine. If worried get sandwich size zip lock bags and bag each one, if it would break it would be contained. I would just put them among your clothes and not on the outer edge. You also can get applesauce and mashed potatoes, etc pretty easy at almost any restaurant.

If you get the Gerber Plastic ones...you might want to put it into a baggie too! They do tend to leak...I had to wash out my diaper bag just today because of it! ;)

The Baby Care Centers sell Gerber baby food. I'm sure it's overpriced.

My DD still ate a jar or two of baby food a day on our trip when she was 14 months. I shipped a box to our resort with baby food, snacks that I knew she would eat, disposable cups, disposable bibs, disposable spoons, diapers, wipes, etc. I actually bubble wrapped the baby food jars, so everything was intact and I was able to confirm that the package had arrived through UPS tracking.

We also took DD on a weeklong cruise when she was about 8 months old. I just packed her baby food in one of those free, purse-sized diaper bags that the formula companies give you at the hosptial and carried it on the plane. A week's worth of baby food for a child that age was lighter and not as bulky as you would have thought.
