Baby care stations question

Would there be a place inside the baby care station that I could lie down on a clean floor to breastfeed my daughter? My daughter has been in the highly distractable phase for a long, long time now. We've found the best bet is to nurse lying down. Of course, I could pump and feed too but that's much harder.

Not a strange question at all! (I also had one that went through a phase where he would only nurse in the side lying position, although we luckily didn't have a Disney trip planned during that time!)

What I did (and would suggest) is to take along a blanket (bigger than a "baby blanket", but not something huge) that you could put down on the floor. That worked fine for me. The nursing rooms are nice, but I really only used them once or twice. They were too far out of the way for me to make use of them more often than that. Too inconvenient when there were plenty of nice benches, shows, rides etc. that were great for nursing. But, in your situation, it sounds like the nursing rooms will be a great help!

Definately don't resort to pumping. That's a HUGE amount of work if you don't have to do it.

Have fun!

I second GEM's suggestion of bringing along a larger blanket or maybe a beach towel. My younger dd would only nurse lying down for awhile, and it was so trying. The nursing rooms at MK and Epcot are dimly lit, so maybe dd will surprise you. The nursing room at MGM won't work for laying down; it is more like a fitting room with a curtain, so it is not wide enough to stretch out on the floor. It is also located in the guest relations office, which is busy and noisy. The rooms at the AK baby center are decorated very brightly (but they are large individual rooms with plenty of space to stretch out on the floor); my older dd would not nurse in there b/c there was so much to look at.

Have you tried nursing in the sling? The distractions are minimal once you get her settled in. This would work sometimes if my dd was hungry enough. If she just wanted a quick sip, it was down on the floor or bed!

Thanks for the suggestion - I guess we'll have to pack a towel for me to lie on. I haven't nursed her in the sling since she was little and would do it more horizontally. She's the busiest baby I've ever met. Even my hair is a distraction. She started having distraction and impatience issues before 4 months old. She's now 8.5 months and they're only slightly better. She would rather suck her fingers to comfort hunger than breastfeed, so it's been a battle. I had low supply issues due to her nursing style by 7 months but a little fenugreek got that fixed. It's been such a battle and we're doing okay with it at the moment so I don't want this trip to mess it up. Add in painful teething right now and it's becoming a challenge again. We leave in 4.5 days and I'm going through all the brands of ibuprofin trying to find one she'll take.

We're not going to AK this time. But that's good to know about MGM - especially since that will be the most hectic day of our trip likely. I'll throw my pump in the bag just in case. It's an Avent Isis so easy to take with me.
