Is it appropriate or allowed to bring a 2yr old and 6yr old to the Baby Care Center for some down time? My friends are going to the Wishes Dessert party one night in the Magic Kingdom which doesn't start until 9pm. That will be a late night for the kids. Is it possible for them to have a bit of quiet time at the Baby Care Center that afternoon, instead of going back to their offsite hotel? I've never been to these centers so I'm not sure how it works. Thanks!

I don't think these older kids will be allowed in unless they need changing. Have them ride the train around the MK a few times instead.

It may or may not work. I don't think you will have a problem going into the baby care center with a two year old and a six year old. I'm just not sure how long they will let you stay. Keep in mind that the MK babycare center is super small. I've had to wait in line there before to get in the door to change my DD when she was a baby. If it were the babycare center in Epcot or AK, which are much larger, you would be fine doing this and would have the space you need to do this. The MK babycare center is often very crowded. I'm not sure you would even get the downtime you are looking for in there anyway.

You will absolutely have zero problem going to the baby care center without a "baby". I take my daughter (6) and my older son in there. My son won't go in the men's room alone (unseen special needs), and they have separate bathrooms in the care center. No one has ever batted an eye, or told us to leave.

I agree with previous posters... our last trip mine were 7 and 3 and had no trouble using bathrooms in the baby care center. There is a small area there too where there is a place to sit and watch tv. No one ever said anything to us about my kids being too old. It is a small area, so I would think they might move people along if there are a bunch of people in there.

The train, however, is an awesome idea as well. My kids LOVE to ride the train and it definitely helps them chill out some. :)

Well sure, but how long did you hand out afterwards?

The baby care center at MK is small and can be very crowded. I don't think you will have a problem going in if you want, but I would not count on it being a quiet or relaxing place either. Everytime I have been in there it has been loud with kids playing or watching TV or talking. They have a small room for nursing moms only, a small room for diaper changing, a small kitchen, and a small waiting area with a TV and high chairs. The seats are not very comfy!

The child care center should be viewed as a means for a "quick" need. Bathrooms, fine. Meltdown, fine. Nursing, fine. Changing diaper, fine. Changing soiled clothes, fine.

But "because my child needs a break and I don't want to go back to the resort or find any other place in the parks" is in, my opinion only, not fine.

There are full gown and in some cases, not quite so sturdy, adults who just rest on a bench and deal with things. I was in a wheelchair on my last visit and never thought to go to a child care center just to get a "time out" so I didn't have to go back to my resort to rest.

That's my opinion but I've found that once an idea is out on these threads, others want the same thing. So we might be faced with a future thread of "my X age daughter needed a diaper change but there was an older man who was resting oogled her!"

I highly doubt most people would want to hang out for an extended period of time where poopy diapers are being changed in the open on the changing tables. It's obvious that the OP had no idea what exactly is in the baby center, and how it works.

Also, I wouldn't classify a 2 year old as "older" as someone else stated. I have seen many 2 year olds getting their diaper changed in there.

You could certainly use the baby care center for the purpose you propose. There is a separate room with a TV and a few table and chairs. If you are going later in the day it shouldn't be too crowded. With a 2 year old, you are well within your rights using the facility and nobody should give your presence a second thought.

It depends on the season how crowded it is. my wife nursed our daughters there often when they were nursing and most of the time it wasnt crowded at all. it isnt that small at mk i am guessing there are atlest 25 seats+ in the tv room where I have never seen more than 10 being used. I highly doubt anyone will say anything to you if you want to hang out there for an hour or so. I personally would rather hang out somewhere else though its kind of stressfull in there at times.

Agreed. I visited all four baby centers with my 3 month old on my last trip. Aside from the private nursing rooms, there was not comfy seating and they were not quiet. I don't see how they would possibly be a good spot to rest or unwind.

Go watch hall of presidents if you want to sit down and relax, or like a previous poster said, ride the train.

I don't think that is necessarily true. The baby care center at AK is awesome. We actually did hang out in there for a half an hour or so watching the movie that was playing. My DD was 9 months, and she crawled around. Is there a place to nap? No not really, the seats were comfortable enough. They certainly aren't couches or recliners. Epcot's center is similar, but not quite as nice. The center at DHS is incredibly small. The center at MK is small (bigger than DHS) and often crowded. I'm sure there are times when no one is in there, but every time I've been in the MK center it has been incredibly crowded. It is has also been very loud too whereas the AK and Epcot centers have never been crowded at least when I have visited. This may have something to do with the fact that the rooms at Epcot and AK are much bigger. I have visited all the centers frequently during my last five trips.

If the center isn't crowded, I don't think the CMs will have a problem with you staying in there. If it is crowded, they might.
