My just turned one year old drinks whole milk. How are taking bottles of milk on the plane affected by the new restrictions?

Thanks

Last September they wouldn't let our 3-yr old thru w/his sippy cup w/milk (he still drinks whole milk because of oral aversion issues his eating still isn't up to par) . Of course he doesn't look like a baby any more, so I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

If you put it in a bottle, they might think it's formula and let it thru. One nice thing though is you can now buy beverages after security and they will let those on the plane. Even if you can only buy 2% milk in the airport (I don't know how readily Whole milk would be)...you child will survive one flight with that, right? It's not ideal, but it's better than nothing.

Baby formula and breast milk are allowed in your carry-on baggage or personal items. You can take these through the security checkpoints and aboard your plane. However, you must be traveling with a baby or toddler. All items including formula or breast milk will be inspected..

my dd just flew out to texas a couple ofweeks ago with our 6 month old grandson. she brought an unopened can of formula with her. and she said the stewardess just warmed the water for her . she had no problems with his formula, she also had baby tylenol and a couple of other small medicines with her. all his stuff was ok. she forgot and actuallyhad to through out her new mary kay face cleanser ,and a couple of other things that she put in her carry on instead of suitcase.

the new procedure is nothing over a couple of ounces in liquid going thru security - but after you get thru security you can purchase liquids and bring them on the plan - we went thru newark and orlando - you may want to check w/your airport to verify if it's the same -

so going down we were okay - but coming back we did have infant tylenol - and they allowed this in the original bottle placed a quart sized bag and they list the medicines on the back of your boarding pass - but for the baby having a bottle on the plane - we brought an empty bottle and got milk from the mcdonalds / burgerking stand - and this was okay - and for formula (which we brought just in case - we had the powder tube and asked for water on the plane and got bottled water to mix during flight) and we had no problems -

so there are a couple of things that you can do - everything will be fine

I flew in September and late October with an 18ish month old and they didn't allow me to bring his milk through security. We had day flights, though, so I let him drink his milk all the way to the airport, then emptied the cup before security and did water the rest of the way.

Well, according to the TSA you are allowed to bring formula or milk in a baby bottle if you are traveling with a baby or toddler. They ask that you not bring more than you need for the flight itself.

Here is the quote:
"Baby formula and breast milk are allowed in your carry-on baggage or personal items. You can take these through the security checkpoints and aboard your plane. However, you must be traveling with a baby or toddler. All items including formula or breast milk will be inspected."

The issue can be the inconsistancy in the enforcement. Some TSA agents are more strict than others (sometimes not allowing things that are allowed) and some aiports are stricter than others. In my case PHI was much more strict than MCO.

In any case, you should be allowed through with a bottle of milk but be prepared to empty it and purchase more after you clear the secure area just in case.

You can now purchase beverages in the gate area to bring onboard. The FA's have also been good about filling empty sippies prior to take off but they don't usually have milk. If you want milk or formula on board purchase the milk after security and consider bringing powdered formula and purchasing water.

I've flown twice in the last 2 months with DS. Both times I had 2 bottles with formula in them and a couple of other cans of ready to feed formula. I had no problems anywhere. I know they say "as much as you need for the flight" but I think you have to account for delays as well.

So in my case the liquid was already in the bottle and not readily identifiable and it was still fine.
