Baby Baptism - Customary to bring gift?

When invited to a baptism/christening we always give a gift. The gift varies depending on who the child is. We we are the Godparent we usually do one of two things, buy the Christening outfit and/or buy the child a gold cross. If we are not the Godparent we usually give the Precious Moments Bible and a small savings bond.
