Hubby is deployed but I really want to take our little one to Disneyland during the holiday season. She is so alert and loves to look around at things, loves different sights and sounds that I think she'd enjoy it - though not remember it in the long run of course. She will be 3 months on Wednesday and I was thinking of going the first weekend in December. How have your trips with infants been? I know it would be a very different trip being just baby and me but how did you handle having a baby with you at Disney? I'm aware of the Baby Centers and we would be staying at the Grand Californian for easier access to the parks. Just looking for tips, tricks, ideas....encouragement.

I think it would be fun!! You can do a lot of rides with babies. It would also be fun to take things slow and relax with baby while having a hot chocolate. You'll have a great time! Thanks for the sacrifices your family makes to keep my family safe.

First off, from all of us I'm sure, thank your husband for his service, and thank you for holding down the fort. If you're staying at the Grand Californian, you couldn't have easier access to the parks.

I had to take my daughter to Disneyland alone a couple of times. The most important trick is to take a nap in the middle of the day, if you possibly can. She may not need it, but you will. Also, don't try to hit more than one buffet (with the characters), because it's very hard to juggle a tray and a baby. I'd recommend Storyteller's Cafe for a character breakfast, because you can order off the menu and have your food delivered by a waiter. Avoid fast food places. Go for the table service places. You'll want to go later in the morning, after you've hit any early-morning rides or attractions you want to see, but the Rainforest Cafe has a very nice (and not very expensive, by Disney standards) table service breakfast. Ask for a seat by the aquarium--babies love the aquarium, and sometimes the scuba diver is cleaning the tank.

It's a good idea to get a VONS delivery to your room with lunch food--it's nice to get out of the chaos and have a little "quiet time" in the afternoon. It's not just the money you save--it's time and hassle. It's also good to have diapers, formula, etc. delivered to your room, and not have to schlep it on the plane.

Since you're at the Grand Californian, there is one fast-food place that tends to be quieter, more pleasant and less crowded, and that's White Water Snacks. It doesn't help with the "juggling problem", but I've noticed in the smaller venues, a lot of times a cast member can take the time to help you get your food to your table.

Mimi's is across the street on Harbor, a short walk away, but they are very pleasant and a nice place to have lunch or dinner. They're also less expensive than the Downtown Disney places.

If you're there on the 8th, and see a teenage girl wearing a "Just Graduated" pin, her father (my husband), and myself and a friend in mobility scooters (we sort of stand out), say hi!

I took both my kids at 4 months. I loved it, it was so easy. I wore them in a bjorn which worked perfect. Faced them out when they were alert and awake and flipped them in when they were tired. You can just get on and off the rides so easily. They both loved the night time shows even waking up to watch. I would say there favorite ride was Small World so we always did that one a lot.
Have fun!!!!

Like others have said, thank you to your husband for his service and to you for your support. I hope you have a wonderful time. :thumbsup2

I'd like to thank everyone for your encouragement. I went ahead and booked. Impulsive, yes. But considering it's been over 2 years since I've had an actual vacation I think it's well deserved. I guess I will go get started on my PTR and if anyone would like to meet up for a snack while we are there please message me.

:)

Glad you're doing it.

Now go get an Ergo (better for your spine AND baby's than other mainstream choices, though a Beco might be similar to the Ergo) and have some quiet, baby-style fun!

I ordered one last night I have a peanut shell sling but Lilly doesn't really seem to like it at all. She screams everytime I try to carry her around. I also have another front carrier that she likes but it's not very comfortable for me for longer than an hour or so. We'll start trying it out as soon as it gets here.

I second the Ergo. I don't know if you're flying but its the easiest thing to use in the airport and at the parks (you'll also need a stroller at the parks but your shoulders will need the break so the Ergo will help).

Good luck & have fun!

Done it with a 3mo old at Christmas (Not Solo) and it was awesome. Staying at the GC is huge. Definitely take advantage of the closeness, nap time in the room or at the pool is a must. Go back to the park refreshed and everyone will be much happier. White Water Snacks is a great place to grab a quick and inexpensive meal. They also have a microwave if you need to heat something up. The lobby of the hotel is very nice - lots of places to sit and hang out - including a huge fireplace. The private entrance to California Adventure makes dropping in and out of the hotel very easy when you are in that park.

The baby center at the end of main street is a great place. You can drop in anytime for feedings/changings and the staff is amazing.

Take your time, enjoy all the sights, and enjoy the hotel it is truly amazing.

And thanks to you and your husband for all your sacrifices.

I'm jealous! I would've loved to have had an opportunity for a solo trip with my boys when they were infants. Its such a magical age. We did take my third DS to DLR when he was 5 months old and it was such a wonderful and easy age to take him (my older boys were 3 and 5 at the time). He was so engaged in all the visual stimulation, loved IASW and all the Fantasyland rides, and delighted in the parades and Fantasmic! I loved taking advantage of the Baby Center to nurse him and get a little break from the hustle and bustle. It'll be so nice for you to be at GC and take those breaks as needed. You'll have a blast. Be sure to ask other people to take pictures of you and your DD together. You'll want those memories documented.

Oh, and I love my Ergo carrier! Be sure to take a stroller too. You may want to lay her down at times so that you can eat or give yourself a break. Have fun :thumbsup2

Thank you to your family for helping to keep our country safe!

I took my son when he was 2 months (oldest son was 22 months). I carried him in a moby wrap the entire 5 day trip. It was comfortable and warm for both of us! I'd recommend getting one of those sleepers with a hood (ours looked like a blue bear). It kept him warm and toasty on the chilly nights. Having them in a carrier was so easy to get on and off the attractions. I'd also recommend a stroller to carry the diaper bag and snack for you, and you can also lay her down for a nap. The baby center is such a great, quiet place for a break. The changing tables are so nice in there and it's warm inside too!

We stayed at the DLH and the proximity to the park was great. Nice for naps and taking things a little bit slower. Take advantage of the photopass (and ask the photopass photographers to take a photo with your camera too)

All the hotels have their own Santa too. The lines in the hotels are MUCH shorter then the parks, so if you want her first photo with Santa, I'd try one the hotels (GCH is the prettiest, IMO).

Most of all, have fun! Like others have posted, my little guy enjoyed IASW and the tiki room (when alert/awake).
