....fat chance of THAT...I asked the VP, who's in charge of supplies, if mebbe he could order me [and another teacher]a desk. Not anything fancy or really big, mind you, but something we could call our own. Basically, he said, flat out, NO.

daisyyy, just....wow. You sure do have your hands full!! In that respect I am grateful that my kids are not all into team or group things. The oldest is a BMX rider and just does his own thing (sometimes with friends, but I'm not driving him all over, all the time). The middle is the musician and spends 99.9% of his time playing guitar in his room. Only the youngest has been into some sports and such, so he's the only one I'm really having to keep track of his schedule. That's enough!!! He's not doing any sports this fall, thank goodness....there are all sorts of new things to try in the middle school and he wanted to keep his options open. Right now he's interested in Track and Field and also wants to take saxophone lessons!

Ok..... i had a crummy day. Hoping tomorrrow is better.

Today my kids started school again... the chaos returns! I already sent my dd to school at the wrong time. She got on bus went to school and called me to pick her up since they had a delayed opening for the underclassman orientation. I cant keep it straight. All four of them are in four different places. Swim practice starts tomorrow and volleyball on thursday... my ds has been doing football..... i dont know which way i m going. My dh will have to step it up this year. Help more.

I also found out my youngest ds teacher is resigning from day care because she just had
a baby and she doesnt have anyone to watch her son. She cant afford to keep the baby at our center so she has to leave. It makes me angry because our baby wing is not full so if they let her keep the baby there she is not taking a spot away from a paying customer. They say its against policy. I think its stupid. She is by far the best.. (and i should know....i cant tell you how many mediocre teachers i have seen come and go over the last 14 years!) You think they could make an exception. I am thinking of leaving if they dont keep her.

Then i found out the airlines cancelled my return flight from vegas...so now we need to rebook... but we cant seem to get the times we want. We are trying different airports.nonstops... but nothing seems to be good... now we might have to add another day which we didnt want to do. Ugh!


Oh...and they also charged my credit card for my room... even though the trip isnt for a few months.... usually theyjust take your card to hold the ressie.. but they chatged one night... not that its going to kill me.. but now i have to pay and wait for reimbursement until after i get back.

Teaching is very hard, parents want the teachers to do the disciplining their children. I don't envy your job, but I hope you have a wonderful children to deal with.....

I hope your day gets better. I like having them charge for my room if I have the money, at least I know I don't have to put the money out later. How do you get reimbursed ? Is it for a business trip? Not trying to be nosy..

Yes... it's for work, but I do plan on doing FUN stuff. It's been about 10 years since I was there, so I 'd like to see some of the touristy type of things and of course play a little roulette,,, (I wont get reimbursed for that however.. so I need to be careful).... I do want to check out the PAWN STARS... do you ever watch that show... I just want to take a ride out there and see the place. I did want to extend my trip one day earlier and drive out to Anaheim for a quickie.... but the co-worker I'm going with didn't want to do it this time because she's saving for her daughter's wedding in a few months. Oh well... maybe I'll sneak off on my own for one day and do that, if I can squeeze it in. We did get the flight re-booked today, so for now, we're all set again. now we have to leave a little earlier and have a layover for a few hours but, we will still be getting home around the same time that we originally was hoping for. The admin is trying to get my charge reversed or charged to another person, because although I wasn't really complaining, it's not fair that I am being charged for something that by the time I go on the trip and send in the paperwork, and they process it, it will be January before I see the money back, so they didn't want me to be out the couple hundred bucks for that long.

Better day so far, but I'm still upset about the day care. I don't know if I should say something. I offered to write a letter to the director, but the teacher was afraid if I said something they might be mad that she shared the info with me. (in case she wants to come back) they say they cant give her preferential treatment becuase the other staff don't get it either... but she is BY FAR the best, and has won numerous awards for her contributions over the years. (this is a nationally known daycare chain)... I guess that could be part of the problem, that some other smaller places can change the rules and let her stay, but these people wont. I hate to lose her. I know she will probably go somewhere else that they allow the babies to stay with the teachers. She has a special place in my heart because she started when I was out on maternity leave with my youngest DS, and my middle DS had this same teacher... MY DH would drop him off and pick him up, so I didn't meet her right way... and he would come home every day and talk about how she helped him, and what they did , he talked about all kinds of things that he learned about. I knew she was special even before I met her. For months this went on. She is more than a day care teacher.. like so many of the others... she doesn't see it like "crowd control" or just baby sitting.... if my son picks up a bug on the playground (which he does often)... she will not tell him to put it down, (unless it could harm him)... she will ask to look at it with him, and then the next thing I know she is doing a weeks lessons on Bugs and Insects... she picks up on what they are interested in, and tries to incorporate it into a learning experience.

Pawn Stars, they do the taping during the day! The line is long to get in the door. The people who are on the show leave about 3. If you go after 3 your ok. Some times it is best to leave things alone, especially if she told you in confidence. I would wait and see where she may go and maybe switch if you can.

I can see why the teacher might be nervous to have you write a letter if she told you something in confidence. Unfortunate situation.
