BAAADDDDD Experience with EMH

FWIW - we did MK EMH on Friday, June 10th and it was fabulous!

There were still some crowds until about 1am but we did Splash Mountain then walked onto Jungle Cruise using a Fastpass from earlier in the day.

We headed to Tomorrowland and rode rides there until 2:30 in the morning. Walked right onto everything.

The park felt empty and it was a magical experience to be there with so few people. We spent some time with a Photopass photographer and got some fun shots of our last moments in WDW.

That is how it was Wednesday of that week as well and it was not an EMH. We stayed until close (1am) and it was not crowded at all. We had one sad experience but the CM was great.

My middle daughter got confused in getting out of the car from tomorrowland speedway and accidentally left her light stick in the car. When she realized it I sent her back to tell the CM and they searched all the cars but had missed the guy and his son that had gotten in after her. They did not turn in the light stick as found. :sad2:

The Cm filled out a paper and sent my daughter to the stand to get a replacement. My daughter was in tears but thanked the CM at the ride and then the CMs that reopened the stand to help her. Disney CMs are the best.

Apologies for image quality - I didn't have my decent camera with me that night :upsidedow

Picture quality was actually quite good.

Has anyone noticed how you never get the "red eye" effect with photos of Mickey & Minnie? Must be some sort of magic that they have!

They may not have even seen the thing if it got pushed down by their feet. Not actually sure what a light stick looks like, but was it on or off? I know it makes no difference now, as she was given a replacement for her mistake, but I wouldn't be so quick to blame someone else for your daughter's mistake.

My DDs got back last week from their trip (without me!) and did the Friday night EMH at MK. They said they did the entire park over again that night, and didn't head back to the resort until after 3 AM. They stayed on Splash for three circuits without getting off :cool2:

PM EMH is not making the best use of your time IMO. AM EMH is probably the best chance you will get at walking onto most rides for at least a good 2-3 hours. We never do evening EMH. Early to bed, early to rise.

We much prefer "late to bed, early to rise"! :goodvibes

We went to MK EMH a few weeks ago. It was a Sunday night, the EMH were 12 am to 3 am. There were still crowds until about 1:30 a.m., and then everyone left and we walked on to everything.

Sorry you had a bad experience :(

This is pretty much the experience we have had. Most of the time it is so packed we don't make it until the crowd thins out. Just not worth it in my opinion.

We always go in January or October, so slower season, but we LOVE evening EMH especially at AK. The MK ones are fun too, and I love being in that park at night. I guess summer is a different story though! Hope you have a great time. And Tiggie - Super cute pictures!

Do mice get red eye? I know cats get more of a green tint...:rotfl:

I must say there was not much of a difference for the PM EMH at MK when we did it last year, but heres what we did, during Wishes we were able to get right on all the rides we wanted to but after wishes was done the crowds and wait times were back to normal

oh no, I'm sorry you had a bad night! I think Fri night and the weather during the week (with things closed/cancelled a few nights) made it worse? We did EMH on Sunday June 12th until 2 am, and it was awesome! We had done the last day of SWW at HS that morning, then came back and everyone slept several hours. We headed to MK and got there during Wishes, and were amazed at the crowds packed in Main St who I assumed then headed out afterwords? (we've always watched Wishes from near the castle or been on rides, so main st packed shoulder to shoulder was eye popping to me!).

It was so nice to not be in the sun, and we did a ton of rides, and wait times got less and less as the night went on. We watched the electrical parade at 11 in Frontierland practically by ourselves, and then lots more rides. I agree not being able to find food or drink anywhere was a pain. We ended the night in Fantasyland, and did the last ride on Dumbo. Then saw Donald, Chip and Dale, Goofy, Pooh and Eeyore I think at the Carosuel, and trying to pull out the Sword in the Stone. My Dd pulled out the sword, and my older son tried and tried, to no avail. Then Pooh pulled it out too! We practically skipped out of the park, stopping to get a picture of the three kids under the clock on main street! Oh and we planned a no park day the next day, so we all slept in and swam!

That is why we don't do EMH's unless they are post midnight and we are arriving at 11pm and staying till close.

I had friends there the same night as you and they also were not thrilled with EMH. Specifically they went back to use thier FP for Jungle Cruise or do stanbdy and it was closed early. They complained alot of things were closed and it wasn't worth thier time. I kept my I told you so to myself. ;)

In the past, I have had most excellent experiences with evening EMH at the MK... to the point that I will pay to stay on site just for that alone. My favorite was NYE, when the park emptied out by about 1AM and it was DEAD. Walking on to Peter Pan in the wee hours of the new year is worth the whole trip, IMO! :cloud9:

That said, we did evening EMH the Sunday of Memorial Day (May 29?) this year, and it was a MADHOUSE. I am contemplating whether or not I want to change our schedule to avoid them for our trip next week, but I was outvoted by my BFF (plus, I have the dessert party one of those nights, lol!) The other two friends just follow our lead, lol, so I guess we'll try the first one and then gauge the second one from that.

Our theory is that in the past, most of the families cut out around midnight and the wee hours are just the singles/adults... for whatever reason (holiday the next day?) the families stayed in the park until 2/3AM. It was insane. But we sure did miss the opportunity to lap BTMRR repeatedly, or wander on to Pirates, like we'd done in the past...

For the past several trips, we nave experienced the same thing with EMH at all parks. Now we tend to just do the morning ones.

I actually miss the days of "E-nights" (or whatever they were called) when you had to pay the extra $15 or so and get a wristband to stay. It really cut the crowds waaaaaay down, which was awesome!! $15 in the scheme of a Disney vaca was nothing and so worth it! :thumbsup2
