Heard about this on the radio this morning.

Does anyone know how much they've actually gone up by?

I've been telling our wedding party / guests to get booked for months but they just don't listen do they?!!

I read this about BA yesterday - from June 3rd, the surcharge for short haul flights will rise by £3 per flight to £16. Long haul flights of less than nine hours will increase by £15 per flight to £78, while longer flights will increase £30 per flight to £109...

daily express are going to the most ridiculous headline of the year award on this claiming "fuel adds extra £872 to holiday flights" !

Must admit...i saw that headline and paniced at the thought of paying £800 more...Iam calming down a bit now.
i just called kenwood travel and paid off our balance of £1900 for our August flights with virgin..they didn't charge me any extra.

What's this based on?? :lmao:

If we're already booked with V Hols they won't add it on will they?

no idea what its based on, just saw the headline and laughed. I assume its something like an average family of 20 doing a world tour!

As for if VH will add it or not I dont think anyone knows yet. I read on the v-flyer forum a few weeks ago something like that either virgin atlantic or VH (cant remember which!) DOES have in its T&Cs that it can go back to passengers and ask for more if only a deposit has been paid.

Guess we'll have to wait and see - im in the same position as you it seems!

I'm sure all holiday companies / airlines have a clause written in that lets them charge extra at a later date. Very annoying.

I just looked at our BA flights for August and the price has gone up by £200 each :faint: Glad I booked months ago!

Unfortunately they class orlando as longer than 9 hours - although i dont think i have ever had a flight that long.

when VH had there 10% online discount the price breakdown for 2 adults & 1 teen showed a £500 fuel suppliment!!!
our balance is due next week - just hoping they wont add fuel suppliments increases!! we booked 18 months ago!

yikes!!
I really hope they don't decide to tag it on, you don't expect to pay more than you've booked for do you?

A typical BA booking to MCO will have £241 in Taxes, fees, charges and surcharges per person.

Though its not always clear to me as to what should just be in the price anyway, i.e. airport charges.

Still it makes cheap tickets harder to find.

Other airlines will be marginally less for the extras but this may be caused by what is in the base price. (virgin £214 for example)

Just checked on VH, I haven't booked for next year yet and the price for 3 of us has gone up another 60.00. That's the second increase in 2 months!

I booked with virgin atlantic and paid for the flights will there be an additional charge or will I get away with having already paid for the flights?
:headache:

That £500 isn't just fuel supplement. £120 of it's the airport passenger 'stealth' tax our wonderful prime minister introduced when he was chancellor!!!
